Pre-mixing on the road?
All you pre-mix converted dudes -
If you plan on riding for longer than a tanks-worth, what is your strategy on the road?
Are you bringing a quart of oil and measuring cup everywhere you go?
Shaking the bike at the pump?!
Towing a 55 gallon fuel drum on wheels?

Yeah, that's real easy????? How about a major PIA. And oil injection was created because premixing is a pain in the..... and it lends itself to engine destroying errors. Better off to keep the pump and partial premix as an error will only be half as bad. A pint or a quart bottle with oz measurement lines will work for any amount of fuel. Or even a regular quart of 2 stroke oil and a pint or 1/2 pint bottle to pour it into and measure out of.graphite9 wrote:Is sooo easy. I'm premix and I ride all over. Buy one of those tiny 8oz bottles of 2t oil and carry it with you.
1 oz for every .25 gal of gas .....very simple
no need to shake the bike chicago streets take care of the mixing.
example: fill the tank up and the pump says 0.75 gallons = add 3 oz

I totally agree with bear. On some builds i prefer to leave the injector for ease of operation, but for my personal bikes i premix. I had a few oil injectors that blew .. not a pretty sight when you put alot of time into porting a bore. Here in hawaii we all carry a gallon gan can in our bucket and also one of these.. the measurement are is 1 oz, I also seen smaller ones that are 1/2 oz per so its easy to use. I bought mines from walmart and just dumped out what ever was in it!

I think Bear (who I rarely support) is simply stating it's just a pain in the a55 because:
1) There is room for error
2) You have to be able to measure on the whim (requiring a vessel to measure with)
3) It's messy and not as convenient as having the luxurious oil pump
(but we all knew this going into blocking off our oil pumps)
I think I'm going to keep a quart and a measuring cup with me so I can measure out 4 oz's per gallon

I was premixing before your daddy was a gleam in his daddy's eye. Don't tell me I don't know about premixing. I carry a gallon gas can and a quart of oil, the kind I get is Lucas Performance in a clear quart bottle with 4oz increments on the side. Since I live in the country I cant just stop at the next gas station when I am crusin a backroad

I started mixing gas and oil in the early 50's because there was no other option, it was a PIA then and still is and it is messy. Some days I feel at least 125 years old. OK, then before you were a gleam in your daddy's eye. Happy now, anyway I did it and still do it for my antique outboards and it is still a PIA, I never said I couldn't do it.graphite9 wrote:You do realize that would make you about 125 years old right?
