Finally scored a Spree!

Post by PolarIce »

Picking this up tonight from the seller. I don't believe I will be haggling because it sounded like he got "plenty" of e-mails about it and mine was the first.

So... yet another Spree saved from the scrapper. Hopefully she's not locked up on the motor. Is that a petcock cover I see?

This is the million dollar question. I'm guessing it's NOT titled.

But I have 2 things going for me. Under 50CC doesn't require a trip to the DMV for plates OR insurance.

and the other is getting a bonded title in NM is not too bad really.

Looks like somebody put a Special Edition panel on the front huh? that Green/White piece?

After 4 Sprees, I'm really not sure I could buy another one
...mainly because I dont like riding them.(just a personal choice)
...Secondly: the total money I profitted from sale of 4 Sprees is around $150,
hardly worth the time and gas for the truck.
Not the case with Aero 50.
Good score though, PolarIce...worth the money.... :thumbwink:

Sell the Special horn cover if there is anyone wanting it...you can get a red one sooooo easy.

Well... Here she is, no title, last registered in Iowa 2006.

Now I have to read up on the Iowa Spree model. Restricted exhaust right?

Has all the signs of typical neglect but I was a bit surprised to find NO spark plug.

Thanks Bear. I don't really care about the extra 5MPH, my 14 year old will probably ride it the most.

Looking at your SIG... I can't believe how many scoots you have now.

I'll take your kickstart cover + mechanism if you ever decide to part it or if for some reason you can't get it running!

Nice. You're really lucky that you don't need plates, registration, or insurance for that thing. Here in IL, we're required to have all three, lol. I don't know if you know about this, but you may be able to free the motor up by pulling the head and pouring some automatic trans fluid into the cylinder, I really just hope for your sake that the crank bearings aren't seized. I hear those are a major pain in the  to change out.

Good luck.
Black 85 Spree-SOLD

Red 87 Spree... Ended up buying the same one mentioned below.

I started riding my uncle's 87 Spree at the drag strip when I was 8...

It's easier to stop caring three years ago than it is to fix it in present time.
