Hey I have an 86 Spree without a title - it has the license plate for Oregon and my buddy owned it before I bought it for $200 because he tore it apart and couldn't put it back together. He was pulled over crossing from Vancouver WA to Portland going over the I-5 bridge on the bike path... The officer told him the MoPed isn't stolen and he had a hand written bill of sale. He was ticketed for riding in the d*** bike path over a bridge, and let go. I am thinking, '* at least it isn't stolen' and I bought it 2 weeks later.
My question is what can I do (asside from spending the $100+ at DMV to register it) to keep it from getting taken from Me by the police??? I run it with the plates on it but the tag is expired 09'. What are some cost effective ways to protect my MoPed from the police? I ride in the bike lanes on roads (shoulders) alot too, usually around 25mph and police have seen me but no issues.
Anyone else out there running without plates or no title? What do You do to feel safe about it? Thanks in advance

You will get pulled over and ticketed, and I'll bet the ticket runs $100.
You're going to need to pay the money to plate it, since you live in OR. Unless you want to move somewhere like AR that doesn't require it.

Thanks for the info, yeah I definitely agree the registration and title are worthy investments opposite the fees I would pay in tickets. I dont ride that often and take mainly backroads for the time being. I will title it once I get paid again since it increases the value
