Just registered, first post ever, check out my new 86 Spree!

Post by pognoot »

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I just wanted to show you guys my "new" 1986 Honda Spree. She has 761 original miles and pretty much sat in a garage her entire life!

Questions for the Spree gurus:

1. Can the 25/25w front headlight be fitted with a Halogen bulb?

2. I think the rear basket is a bit on the fugly side, but I need it. Is there a better looking basket that you could recommend?

Thank you! Check her out...happy as can be!!

Greetings:

Impossibly Clean! Welcome.

Yes basket isn't pretty and eposes yer stash to onlookers. But it is light, low drag, and Period-Correct.

Ebay often has cheap lockable clamshell top boxes that bolt to the rack. Observe weight limits or risk failure.

I do not recall seeing any as clean....ever...since 1986 in the dealership.
You scored a gem. The basket may be fugly, but many Spree owners would like to have it.
I have a basket from Prima that is black and somewhat more attractive.
Trunks are more secure and weathertight, but if your need is for groceries and such, basket is best.
Congrats on the beauty you have shared... :urban:

Thank you. It pretty much looks brand new, and it runs like it just rolled off the lot.

I've been searching around on the halogen question came up short, so I am assuming there is not a replacement halogen headlight for this baby that I could order. Too bad.

Thanks for the advice on the basket. True, it is the perfect width to hold a case of beer.. :-)

Its a sealed beam headlight. You'd have to cut the factory bulb out and insert the bulb of your choice. Search HID Swap. That should bring up a few threads.

Wow, so clean. Beautiful!
I have a period correct top box on mine. It was mounted when the original owner bought the scoot in 86, a Rickman equipement.
Very pratical.
