Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Just wanted to share my latest addition to the Honda fleet. A very nice 1984 Honda Gyro NN50MD. 3198 miles on it, runs good after a carb clean but still needs a new battery. New pet *...ouch...expensive and a new hub cap for the rear..On the way from the honda dealer. Still missing one piece. The rear bumper cover. But I doubt I'll ever find that piece.

Thanks. Yeah it's in pretty dam good shape. As far as the carb access cover it has some tape underneith holding it on, just for good measure. Your right those factory tabs are about worthless. I too prefer the looks of the 85 to 86 Gyro's but the more I look at this bike in person, the more I'm liking it. Pictures don't really do it justice. And quite honestly I've ridden both the 84 and the 85/86 gyros and the 84's are more comfortable to ride. Just because the seat does not have the upturned lip on the back. As far as an Urban Deluxe we have one in the shop that's for sale.

Does the 85-6 handle better than 84 because rear wheel stance was increased abit?

Having owned and rode an 84,85, and 86. Ill say the 85-86 handle better, but the seat is better on the 84.

It's been so long since I've ridden the 85/6 Gyro that I can't rreally remember But I do know the footpeg mount on the latter Gyros is a bit more comfy, while the seat on the earlier ones is better. As for handling, honestly can't tell you which one is better.

I just did some checking in the manuals for some of the differences between the two gyros. Some of witch Im not sure I agree with but Honda wrote the book!!

this being said the 85's better handling must be mostly from the longer wheel base and foot placement as it is actually narrower and heavier than the 84

Only the 84 was ever sold up here so I doubt if I can ever compare one to mine as im lucky even to find this one
horsepower is up but it must be from port timing as its not from compression increase.
