Yes another Side Stand idea and No Welding Required ...

Post by 66SIX »

I keep reading about side stands ( I don't even like them )
So I decided to try to build one ...
I picked up some clamps / see photo .
I had an old side stand from a China scooter .
A bolt here and a bolt there .... Done ! ... thought I would need to do some welding - Just used bolts
Works fine .

NOTE : This clamp fit a Spree so make sure and check your frame size ... different bikes different sizes ...

That's great, many will want to follow :D

Could you post links or dimensions of the stand and point to where member's can get the clamp?

You can see the clamps bending a bit so I stuck some plastic spacers in to stop the bending and make it even tighter

After messing around with this , I thought of a friend that has a Honda Hobbit scooter and always complains about having to have his feet on the pedals .
I was messing around and thought this same clamp could be mounted anywhere on the frame .
In less than 5 min. you could make pegs ...

They are called Batten Clamps and are used in the entertainment industry .
I got mine from Desert Specialty Rigging in Vegas for $5.82 ea. they are very high quality and come with bolts .
I am including the receipt and a screen shot of another place that was online you can see how the price varies
really they should cost under $ 10.00 bucks .
The ph. # of the place in Vegas is 702-798-5559 I am not sure if they ship I just know they had what I needed .
