Elite 50cc

Post by Maximum223 »

Hi this is my first post and first moped, so here goes. I recently found an ad on Craigslist for a 1995 Honda Elite moped, with 5685 miles on it. The ad says its in excellent condition and my buddy has a 1997 and he loves it. I barely have any mechanical experience, so I don't want to have to fix it or mess with it a lot. Does this sound like a good first moped? My budget is pretty small and it's either this, or a Taotao, :( I will only need it for 4 years or less. Advice? I will go and test drive it.

I have both. Both of my Chinese scooters are for sale for a reason. Buy the Honda.

i just bought an 89 elite for $375 the day before yesterday and i love it. at first it liked to die when it stopped and not start after sitting for a few hours but a quick tweaking of (i believe) the idle screw and she works *mostly* fine now (still died a couple times but started right back up). also, the throttle seemed delayed from a dead stop but it gets up and goes right away now. now the electric start doesn't like to fire right up so i'm gonna try to pick up a new battery tomorrow
