radio for a spree

Post by zonker1984 »

So, does anyone know of a bicycle radio that will adapt easily to fit on a Honda Spree? I'm doing a lot of commuting and music would be nice.

Don't wanna do the headphone thing because I travel on some pretty busy roads. That and I like making everyone else hear what I'm listening to.

As long as I can hear it and it doesn't interfere with my ability to hear traffic around me, it works for me. Forcing my musical tastes upon others is just a side benefit. ;-)

The plan is to get something like this: http://www.emersonradio.com/SearchDex/10781.htm
or this: http://www.active-tunes.com/?gclid=CIfN ... SQodZXkN3w and mod it or my Spree or both to make them match up together. Mostly I'm wondering if people think I should cut in to the handlebar covers on the Spree or if I should remove the mounting bracket on the radio/speakers and try and attach them to my Spree in a different manner.

radio for a spree

I would use 3/4 or 1" pcv pipe to make a holder for the radio. Bolt end caps to the leg shield above the turn signals and glue a length of pcv pipe across(end cap to end cap). Maybe put a tee in the middle with a short length of pipe to hold the dual speakers. Paint to match scooter colors.

Language, language.

Depending on his MP3 player, it may have a built it in regulator. If nothing, it probably has a resistor, to protect it if the USB port has a voltage spike. If it works, and doesn't get warm/do weird things, it'll probably be fine. I wouldn't reccomend it, though.

USB is 5 volts. That's why cell phones, iPods (except mine), etc. can be charged from it. I believe the serial port also has 5 volts on one of its pins (though nobody uses serial anymore). What MP3 player do you have?
