spree in a box

Post by spreehappy »

Hello everybody.
So I got this spree in a box for $100.
I never owned a spree before.
I got it from a guy name jo in laconia new Hampshire.
On the phone he said it was all there, and good shape. just needed a head and piston." 80 buck ebay "
so I drove 130miles (mapquest) round trip to pick up. it was getting dark to see the spree good.
I don't know much about these spree. theres some dry rot, and can I use the rear wheel with that much rust? after I got home I realize I was missing the clutch, carb, and other parts.
my question is did I get a good deal?
any advice would be great.

I dunno. There are two words for that spree. Basket Case ;-) you have more than 80$ in parts there and they are already to part out on ebay if you dont want to assemble it

why do you want a spree??? if your tall (over 5 foot 6 inch ) you will not fit on a spree well if your looking speed over 35 mph your going to speed a lot to get it and the beast you will get maybe 45 if your lucky... if you get a elite 94 - 2001 you will be better off .... i have a spree so i no what im talking about..

I got my first spree and heard nothing but "get an elite.". if you love the knee shield on the spree as much as I do, ignore it all. yes I spent an arm and half a leg to get my spree to 35+ mph but I am very happy now. a lot happier than if I just bailed on the spree and got an elite. yes there is some things you have to change to make it all work but i'm in the process of making all the plastics fit with no cutting. I love my spree, its one of my most prized possessions in the entire world. And I'm serious its no joke. I loved it even when it was bone stock. And if you want a spree to drive that basket case can be done but it could always be parts for another spree as well. Don't be discouraged by the purchase you won't loose whatever you decide to do. :-) :-)

Find another Spree that has all the parts attached. Use what you need from your "box" and sell off the rest. You didn't get ripped off just lied to.
Need parts? Parting out Spree Aero and Elite!

Don't listen to the nay-sayers. I think what you bought yourself there is an education.

I think the education you'll receive getting that bike back together is worth $100; and going through the work yourself will also give you a more critical eye on how to value these sorts of propositions in the future.

If all the body parts are there and the engine's complete, you've got at least $100 in parts, so I wouldn't sweat it (in other words, you can part it out here and make back your $). Concerned that I don't see a pile of fasteners... there should be about a jar-sized container worth of nuts and bolts with that.

Grab the manual and parts microfiche (you'll need it to tell the size and length of fasteners used) and get to it. Getting the crank into the cases and the cases together will frankly be your biggest challenge. If the motor won't go together, buy one complete (either a Spree motor or one from an Elite would give you a faster scooter) and go from there.

When you consider what you will spend to get your incomplete spree running...
You might want to think about this one and then sell off your extra parts...

http://providence.craigslist.org/mcy/4076392074.html

or this one

http://providence.craigslist.org/mcy/4051214851.html

or d*** this one!

http://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/4095196789.html

or get this one for $400 and it will blow the others away..
