my offset shock mod

Hi forum.
my stock shock it's just not good enough. I found this used adjustable shock and did a offset mod to clear the tire. Take a look.
I think the stock shock is 260mm this one is 280mm tall.

the lower bracket came from my old spree shock.
the spree shocked is spring loaded. I had to use two needle nose vice grips to hold the load.
so that I can take a little bracket off.

:urban:VERY Important to keep shock oil cool. I had to keep a wet rag on it, and weld a little at a time. so that the oil inside would not get heated and damage the seals.

it would be easier to just buy one from graphite, scooter swap shop. But I like making custom stuff.

i did this to my rear shock but i cut off the whole u shaped bracket and moved it over 5mm then welded it back on .

I like doing these kinds of mods. but they do take time and work to make.
Like I said before it would be easier to have graphite from scooter swap shop just order one.
and its a lot safer if you can't weld.
like me lol.

Glad I have a welder too, it helps when you have the inspiration and you can just grab the torch, clip the lead on and weld something. In my new workshop I have the welder right by the door under the bench where the vise is so I can mod and fix at a moments notice. The torch reaches in the floor with no trouble to weld on frames and such without relocation of the box. I also picked up a DC inverter buzz box for real cheap on sale to set up a scratch start tig rig when I get all of the bits together from eBay.

I'm thinking of getting a tig welder that also doubles as a plasma cutter. They aren't too bad from eBay. That's not going to happen anytime soon though. The cheap tubing benders go on sale all the time at princess auto for about 100$ to 120$ I want one. Its funnyhow we have thousands in tools to fix machines like sscooters lol

That Princess Auto tubing bender is pretty crappy. I wouldn't recommend it
