has anyone seen real benefits from using it? I've never had binding problems.
I have one of those, got it last year. Installed it on either my aero 80 or my af18. I think it was my aero 80, and it really diddnt do much in that mild un-wild bone stock motor. Might work wonders in my af18 with the ripping it does with all of the crazy bottom end launching I do with it it has the heavy red malossi center spring in it. That little yellow thing is still sitting on my bench from a year ago ;-)

Greetings:

As a friction damper, it may help to quell tangential vibration - back-and-forth buzz around the circle of the spring. Vibration is what fatigues metal more than the physical compression forces, so it may in fact be a "spring-saver". By its relatively low friction, it may keep the spring from winding up and unwinding as the cams do their little twisty thing. The ball-bearing variety I've used for years does the same thing, but the grease dampens the vibes. Couldn't hurt, and also raises the preload a hair, though I doubt it's enough to warrant changing the roller weight load.

According to fancy drawing you get it goes on the clutch side. And yes this is one part I'm gonna keep a fresh one in there. Gonna pull mine and see how it's doing. I've got maybe 300+ miles on it.

That's a torsion controller, similar to a spring saver. The radial ball bearing supports are the ones that go under. Torsion controls and spring savers go on top. Spring savers don't do much.

Less confusion more pictures. Photobucket.com is easy to use yet maddy can't figure it out.

Genuine polini lower torque spring support is what we see here. This little beaut goes under the torque spring so it's not twisting against the cup.

Viola we have a completed full top to bottom polini 3g clutch set up with spring saver on TOP, also where torsion controls go, and spring support on BOTTOM.

Maddog please post your paper washer mod, I showed how a polini saver and support looks like in real life.
Go to page 2 to see the polini lower spring support and it's complex installation.
