Elite 150 ...worth it for a short term daily driver??

Post by kjkenney »

So my car crapped out and I need transportation. I found an 85 Elite 150 Deluxe for $300, runs, probably needs a clean still, and just has some faded panels and a broken blinker lens. Is that a good deal? I don't see them often around here that's for sure. The streets around me are 45 mph, so is this a viable option for decent transport for a couple months? The most I need it for is about a 10 mile radius from me. These machines look super slick but wondering if it's worth it as a daily. Any advice from current owners would be appreciated!

Owner, yes.
Running with title for $300 ?...you betcha, yes.
Good power, liquid cooled, the Deluxe model has a popular "pop-up" headlight.
I have a parts bike, FYI.
I say, you can't go wrong...mm...

I'm liking the sounds of this! Not going to lie, the pop up headlight was a huge draw. I once had a Ford probe with those, soooo 80's I love it. ok im going to see what this guy says, he had it at 400 and it sat for two weeks so i think thats a sign its been waiting for me. now to convince my better half its a good idea...:) thanks for the input, good to know parts bikes are laying around as well

Yes very well indeed. The only female ive ever looked at and wanted to dance the court with. Maybe after all it was just the Elite 150 delux.

Amen, her taste in scooters is enough to drive any man wild.

One more question..what's the storage like on these things? I have an 87 Nb50 now, and the storage is pretty minimal. Not looking for tons cuz I mean, hey, it's a scooter after all, but since the 150s are more mid-sized I'm hoping theres a little more room, possibly?

Best way to increase storage space is to invest in a fancy new backpack or get a storage "trunk" box and bolt it to the rear rack. Get the right storage box and it'll have a soft back pad to lean back on for those long commutes.

Read the "Design and Amenities" section about storage of these models here: http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Honda/ ... te150.html
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

My recommendation for a trunk:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360694085020

That one is HUGE. I have 2 of them. One on my blue TaoTao, one on my daughter's Pink TaoTao. It will hold 2 helmets easily. I've already tried it to see. My kid loves hers. She's able to get her laptop and all her school books in. It's great for grocery trips, trips to Walmart, etc.

That box is bigger than my motor.

You could put another scooter in that box.
