CH80 Speedometer not working?

Hello all,

I verified the odometer cable is fine as I disconnected it and verified it moving as I am driving. I also hooked up another instrument cluster and the same thing, speedometer not moving. I thought maybe it's electronic, so I used the spare cluster and hooked up both odometer cable and wiring, same results.

Is this a known issue or is there a known fix?

Leo

Did you check the plastic gear in the brake hub?

If that was bad, I would assume the odometer cable wouldn't move, which it does.

if plastic gear is not seating in place correctly it still moving and acting normal, but won't able to work with speedo.....do this test, un-tight brake cable 5-6 turns, spin the wheel, if the wheel is spinning freely then your installation was good, if the wheel spinning slowly then you might have had plastic gear incorrect installation.....after that you can use drill with a small (-) to test the speedo with cable connected........every time you install cable to wheel hub or to speedo the wheel should be spinning to have the best connections.

Plastic gear you speak of is in the front or rear wheel?

Ok, but with the odometer inner cable spinning as it should mean that plastic gear is working correctly, correct?

Disregard guys. I just wasn't able to get it going fast enough around my pool for it to show on the speedo. Took it around the block a couple times and it works like a charm.

Thanks again!!
