What is the deal with Spree's?

The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

What is the deal with Spree's?

Post by HuskieMobileMan »

Why is everyone so gung ho about them here? Aren't there more mods available for other scoots like Elites?

Interesting question...

This started out as a Spree-only site... because there wasn't one anywhere else. Just a lot of bad attitude on moped and Vespa sites.

I added all 2-stroke, 50cc Honda scoots b/c there really wasn't a home for them either, see above.

There are a lot more Spree than any other Honda 2-stroke scoot, so we tend to see mostly ppl with these bikes.

Also, there are a ton of Elites with missing (and hard to find) body panels, which are excellent donors of engines for Spreee, which you can readily find body parts for.

the amount of parts available for the spree makes no sense vs the number of them on the road still. There is a demand for parts, just nobody to make them. If I could get a big bore kit I'd drop up to $150 on one right now.

I concur! I wish there were an interchangeable or aftermarket transmission instead of swapping whole engines. I know its not that big of a deal but to a college student it can be costly.

the funny part is they left enough space under that silver engine cover to add a gearbox of some sort. Even a 3 speed tranny in a spree would make a huge performance difference.

what really limits the spree is the fixed ratio transmission. Due to that, it means you'd be restricted to abou 40mph max maybe a lil more even with a bore kit, carb etc..

Due to this no one really makes the go fast parts for spree's, it would just take too much effort for something that doesnt have much potential. thats how businesses see it anyway.

best bet if your looking for a worthy spree mod is noiseguy's speed pipes, that and port the stock block. easily get you to 40mph without a bore kit.
projects galore :nerd:

Cool, thanks for the info. I love the smaller scoots like the aero and spree. My NH80 just doesn't compare. I get on it and it feels like I am driving a school bus compared to my Elite!

The Spree doesnt need to go fast to be cool. It can do it at 30.
