I am working on a SA50 elite and was brainstorming how to retain the stock speedo cluster but get a higher reading on the speedometer. If you added a 2:1 reducer inline of the speedo cable you could have a 70mph cluster (35mph = 70mph, 25mph = 50mph, etc.…) and possibly print out a new gauge face with the updated speeds. Anyone know of a reducer that could work? I did a quick search and had no luck.

not sure on the reducer. but you could get a jdm speedo and change the kph to mph? maybe a nc50 speedo ring will change the ratio? they had 14" tires. might be 2:1 compared to the normal 10" wheel. just a thought

There are a few different Kymco Speedo’s that fit our U.S. Elite housings. Some have MPH’s in smaller print with some versions going up to 50 and some to 60. Both have room to spare on the gauge to reach a 70 MPH reading but numbers just not printed that high. Could easily add a few stickers on the gauge face since the needle certainly travels that far during 70 mph blasts.

I tried a KPH-to-MPH inline reducer once. I was able to find one overseas with the proper threads to simply screw it into the back the gauge cluster and then screw in the speedo cable. It didnt quite fit right since the speedo cable is routed through the steering stem and is slightly offset from each other. I had to grind material away from the inside walls of the stem to get it to sit in there unobstructed. Unfortunately, after many hours assembly turmoil, my first test run with GPS in-hand to check gauge accuracy resulted in a snapped speedo cable after only about 2 miles of ride time. I removed the reducer and now it sits in a box collecting dust.

These go up to 90 KPH...which is about 55MPH

This one has MPH to 60 with room to spare 70+. Ive had the needle buried on one of these.
