What you should prepare before long journeys?

Post by porterwalker »

The long ride is something interesting and attractive for motorbike enthusiasts. However, you need to prepare carefully before each trip, especially check your motorbike to see if it is working properly or not. Below you will know what you need to prepare to have the most comfortable and safest motorcycle trips.

Check your wheel-balance

Check if your wheels are wobble. The skewers must be tightened. This will make your bike balance and ensure your balance, therefore, ensure your safety, giving you a perfect experience.

Check your tires

Make sure your tires are in a suitable condition. Chances are, the tires usually rip or wear out while they are in use. If you don’t check it before the ride, you will expect to have potential risks during the trip. The worst case is your bike broken on the midway, and you will have a tough time fixing and replacing it. Check the air pressure and the entire wheels, this doesn’t take too much time.

A motorcycle helmet

Well, this one will never be missing from any ride. It is the thing that protects your head. A proper helmet should fit your head well, comfortably, and not obstruct your vision. The safest motorcycle helmet must be the full-face type. Don’t take off your helmet during the ride to ensure your head is always protected on your bike. Check your bike chain

The chain must not be loose or too tight. If it is too tight, the suspension will e disturbed. If the train is loose, it means difficult throttle inputs. Check for any signs of wear, you need to fix it right away as it can be dangerous. Ideally, you should bring your bike to have a mechanic check your chain.

Check your fuel

You may pass places where there are no gas stations or people live, what if your bike runs out of fuel? Therefore, make sure your car has a full tank. You should also store a little extra on the outside so that when it runs out of fuel you can add more. Some people can predict the amount of petrol they are going to use until they find the next nearest gas station. So they don’t need to bring a bottle of petrol.

Check the brakes

It is critical to have properly functioning brakes. Make sure they are responsive and work without any glitch. Pay attention to any wear and tear, and check brake fluid, rotors, and pads.

Check the engine

If your bike has engine problems before, you must check it again carefully. It is advisable to have some short rides first to test the engine before a long journey. Look for any weird sound and resistance. If it does, bring it to the repair shop and have someone fix it for you.

In addition, you will need to prepare some other things like money, water, personal toiletries, etc. So that’s it, I usually prepare such things before any long ride. Let your city dept of transportation know of your issue. I have seen ads for a metal plate designed to trigger the magnetic strip (if there is one) imbedded in the pavement that tells the light someone (a vehicle) is at the intersection. You would install the plate under your scooter somehow.
Make it a point to get a copy of your complaint(s) in case you do get stopped for some reason. Best of luck I know it’s frustrating to sit there for any length of time 😟

In my state (TN), the law provides for motorcyclists to proceed through red lights when safe as long as the intersection is controlled by a trigger that does not recognize your bike.
