85’ Spree Plastics Paint Removal and Repainting
Looking for ideas on the best way to remove multiple layers of spray paint on Spree plastics then best approach to repainting.
Re: 85’ Spree Plastics Paint Removal and Repainting
I would offer any tips if I had any, but not sure there is a good way.
Someone with some experience will need to chime in for you.
All i know is that it will be lots of work.
I stay away from scooters that have been disrespected by previous owners, except
for the purpose of parts and resale.
Good luck Rideslikenacho...motor...

Used some citrus brand paint stripper on the inside part of the plastics and looks like originally Honda painted over white plastic. Looks possible to strip all the paint off with paint stripper.
Curious if anyone has used a heat gun to remove the paint.

I would sand it down with wet/dry, 220 or 320 until you get to a good layer of paint. I'm not familiar with any strippers that will work well on plastic. I would not use heat either... front shield will warp along with any plastics like it (I use heat guns to reform that part when needed.)
Coat with a build primer after sanding, sand to finish grit (600 or so) and repaint.

Yeah I guess sanding it would work but thinking it might need a coat of adhesion promotor then base. Planning on getting a cheap harbor freight gun and spraying it out when the weather warms up.
Once that is done, where can I get original sized decals made? Ive seen the old post with some pictures scanned but can’t find any downloadable files or anything for the 85’.
