Tires & TUBES???

My Elite CH80 came with tubes installed. I replaced the rear tire and since th tire is stamped "tubeless" and the rim is stamped "tubeless" I pulled in a valve stem and mounted the tire without the tube.....been riding it for about 6 months this way with no problems. Is there any reason that these bikes come with tubes????
Also, anyone have some suggestions for a nice set of 3.50-10-4PR that will give me some nice pavement grip? I am looking to replace the front tire / set and wanted to get something to make it feel a little more responsive when I am draggin the center stand in the corners.
