Expanding the scope of Hondaspree.net to include Elite 50s

The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

Expanding the scope of Hondaspree.net to include Elite 50s

Post by noiseguy »

What are your thoughts on expanding Hondaspree.net to cover Aero's, Elite 50s? We already end up discussing these quite a bit.

What about covering the larger Honda scoots, such as the 80's, up to 200s? We don't have any users with these, but they may come.

Thoughts?

The current site is tightly focused on one product that doesn't get discussed in the scooter realm. That focus is what brings together people that have similar interests. Try looking for posts about Spree on mopedarmy.com or scooterbbs.com. Mostly garbage responses. We have someone here currently tearing his electrical system completely apart, and actually getting help and useful input. That doesn't happen anywhere else. My concern is by expanding the scope, we'll lose that focus.

On the other hand, Aeros, Gyros, and Elite 50s don't have much support either, and are structurally very similar to the Spree. We don't have any Elite expertise, yet, but we may find some. Also, the Elite 50 engine is pretty much the swap needed to get the Spree going faster than about 35.

More input needed. Convince me one way or the other.

thats exactly what i was thinking. everyone is mor focused on newer faster models. if we keep it on the older smaller scoots spree, elite, and aero it would be fine.instead of a whole bunch of new pple adding there 2 cents on how the newer ones are better. u kno?

I like the idea of including Aeros, Gyros, and Elites. If they are similar in structure to the spree then it could broaden our knowledge of these scoots as well as provide new members. I think we have enough Spree ppl to not lose focus on Sprees.
projects galore :nerd:

Actually I'll bet well over half have never posted. Getting an account just to ask a few questions (or sell something) is common, and I have no problem with it. The effort of getting an account set up is enough of a deterant to keep random people from showing up and blathering nonsense.

Anyone up for updating the graphics? Suggestions? I'll need to contact Jim and see if he's still around.

I think I even have a copy of the Elite and Aero service manuals on disk... I'll have to upload them.

I've got the Aero manuals for 84-86, but nothing on the Elite 50s. These go up for sale all the time on Ebay. Someone should send me a copy...

On one hand we do lost focus on the spree itself, but i would be very interested in seeing what people do if they put a faster engine on a spree, such as an elite engine. I say go for it.

OK, then someone needs to run down a CD copy of the Elite 50 manuals. SA50, SE50, etc... I have the Aero manuals, which I'll post when I get the chance.

Yup, Do it man, Its been a fad here in hawaii where Honda Sprees are fiited to fit a SA50 Elite s motor. Ill be happy to post some tips on how to hybrid the spree with this motor if you make this site. Ill post some pics here also from hawaii too.
