Which gear oil?

Post by Scooterspal »

Have not seen much on what chancing the gear oil or what is the recommended type for the Spree.

I checked mine (recently purchased Spree 85) this past weekend and it looked like foggy green pea soup. Only about 60CC's came out.

Refilled with 90CC's of the stuff I use in my TGB.

Not all the oil came out because of the shape of the case and location of the drain/fill hole.

Use 10W40 motor oil..I use royal purple myself and it actually increased my overall top speed slightly and improved my gas mileage some

And only fill up to the drain hole to where it starts to come out..or tip it slightly and put in slightly more(which is what I do)
Honda Elite SA50-S

Stock motor, 9:1 gears, Kelli High speed pulley=a top speed of ?? Maxed the speedo out if that counts..average 45 mph
average 85 mpg

10-40, cloudy oil has water contamination.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
