As for how it happened...

maybe lets just say i got a lil carried away

was doing 65-70 mph WOT on highway for a stretch about 10 mi nonstop

honestly I should've known better but I just really (stupidly) felt that it could handle it

have yet to diagnose, but no sign of life anywhere close and it will be a while before I get some time to look at anything. I must say, it is really really sad to see such an expensive project blow up in my face.. although better than the literal alternative i guess

I cant see anything bad happening as long as you watched your temp gauge.

nope, and I was watching temp gauge constantly! what I know for now is my sparkplug boot was real loose, and maybe this caused something else to happen over the long distance..

sh** happens seems to be the diagnosis..

Just pulled everything apart today. Compression was only at 60psi, and sure enough piston and cyl were messed up. No scoring however but looked like a dry scrape, lots of carbon buildup too.

Good news is that crank and bearings seem to be okay and my extra layer of base gaskets held up well! They actually hardened over time and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Filled in boost port also seems intact so overall top end is fried but bottom should hopefully (crosses fingers) hold up to another bore.

So who's got a used 70cc for sale?! Interested in a used Corsa/Contessa/Malossi, whatever's available. Just want this bike back on the road

Found TWO Malossi 70cc bore kits in the back of our shop, would bolt right..

but they're $260 bucks!!!

And Contessa prices up to $200 on ebay *?! :?

Yes - they seem to have shot up recently (around April/May). I won't even say what I paid for my Corsa. Yikes.
