The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

weight capacity on honda spree

Post by xsk3l3t0rx »

i just looked on wikipedia for specs about my spree, and i dont know if i believe that the weight capacity is 180 lbs or what not. is this really true? it just seems way too low. i understand obesity wasnt such an issue 20 years ago but 180 lbs is really light. im 6'3 173 lbs and im a fricken walking stick i dont think im about to break my spree if i put my guitar in my gig bag and ride around town will i? also, can how much will a lens for my rear left side directional set me back?

i really dont follow those specs. i mean, that might be what they say, but really i would not worry about it.

i know a guy who is d*** near 250lb whos rides around on an elite with the same frame style as the spree. It has never broke on him.

My 230 lb dad has rode my spree and so has my even larger cousin. Im 200, only complaint is it doesn't have much of a rear shock but I might just be sitting back too far (6ft tall).
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I wouldn't worry either. I've been riding all summer with my girl. Together we're 280lbs.

But I would check your tire rating. My originals said something like 290lbs max capacity and my new ones say 410.
Considering most of the weight is on the rear tire. 225ish + 100lbs of scoot = 325ish. It makes me feel safer.

The Spree is spec.ed at 180 pounds for max rider weight. But I rode mine when I weighed everywhere from 200 to 300 pounds. I haven't weighed less than 195 since high school. It just seems to bottom out the suspension if you aren't careful.

spree doesn't have enough power to pull more than like 250. I tried riding with my gf and it would only go like 10mph.

I can tell you my elite motor moved faster with 450lbs on the spree than the spree motor did with 300

Well, that is interesting. I will advise my Doc that his scales are wrong and I weigh less than 250, because my Spree wouldn't move faster than 10 mph with over 250 on it. Mine runs 27 mph flat out so I can't possible weigh 280, down from 305.

I towed my friend on his 400 pound sport bike home 2 nights ago about 2 miles with my honda elite!! lol

I hit the bottom of a steep hill at about 15mph, it pulled up the hill to about 23-24mph! lol

edit (only reason I used the elite was because my sport bike wasn't running at the time lol)
