Fuel consumption

Post by Samargh »

I know (or read on here) that when they were first released, Honda said that a Spree would do 100 miles to the gallon, right?

and one of the guys was quite distressed because he worked out that his spree was only doing around 80mpg...

well, I just worked out the fuel consumption on mine after finally getting it semi working, and it works out at around 82mpg... if I'm converting using US gallons.

If I'm using UK gallons, its around 98mpg!

so the question is, were they using UK or US gallons in thier originally quoted figures?

cheers

I usually hear of people getting about 80mpg, but I don't think I've heard anyone say 100mpg. Sprees are also more economical at less than WOT I believe, so if your doing 30mph+ a lot, then that will eat your mileage some.

Anyone on this board getting around 100mpg?

Some of the 9:1 gear people claim to get 100 going 30-35.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

yeah, with the 94-01 elites, after the gears and pulley, if you stay arround 30mph you can get like 100-110mpg.

If i remember right, some people claim doing like 25mph on a spree instead of the full 30 really jumps up your mpg.

My 4.6 liter V-8 Police Interceptor in a full size Crown Victoria will beat that by better than 11 mpg.
