the fastest dio motor i know of was from a friend named Achi . he got a ticket going over 100mph on the hwy. He had 2 other guys with him. They all got tickets. The way they got busted was the airport tower saw 3 of them flying donw the hwy and called the popos! As for the size of motor, that remain to be unknown, but knowing him that had to be NOS!

I had a spree w/ dio (w japan rear mini skirt panels and tail) The motor was built by tobatech, fully port motor  ministroke /50mm bore- 88cc,keihin28mm carb,pg long, 6.8 gears.

the spree clock 80 mph is 110lbs rider.

we went 3 times run and hammer wide open throttle 3 miles runs, got no temp gauge :P  by looking @ plug burns.

Depends on the motor, WAY faster than a spree front end should be trusted at.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Doesn't it all depend on gearing? You would think in theory you could make one go well over 100 mph. The only thing would be how fast it gets there. I'm sure that there is a limit on how small you could go with gears, so the real question is how fast could a dio motor go with X gears in it. Then the challenge would be to produce a motor with the highest possible RPMS.

No way! Get out! My 84 Spree that I am happy when I see it reach 34 mph having the capability of reaching 100?
Allright, if it can be done, how about a parts list, cost and availability?

I'd estimate $1k for a budget build, for 80+mph out of dio in spree frame. Availability depends on who you know and who you can trust, as far parts..

Top speed is a reflection of horsepower. If you have the horsepower to pull bigger gears then you will go faster with those gears. If your motor is against it's max rev limit (not rev limiter but a 2 stroke has a rev limit determined by how much air it can pump and even unloaded you can't rev past it) but you don't have the horsepower to go faster and put in bigger gears then you go slower.

Yeah i was gunna say something like that. Just cuz the gears may allow x mph doesn't mean any engine can attain that mph.

What I want to know is, what is the max mph with stock 12.44:1 gears and max mph with 9:1 gears. Not if xyz motor combo can make that mph, but what could be reached with enough power.

Hahaha, Yeah Achi is into 4-stroke ruckus and metros now. He talks all the time on http://www.totalruckus.com.

He was talking about his 100mph Dio, and how much work he put into. He went above and beyond on every single part on that beast.
