Restoring a 85 spree that caught on fire

Post by Spreedracer »

So I am new to this whole thing. I bought a spree that caught on fire, at a garage sale for 10 bucks! THe fire only did damage to the rear seat, panels, and wiring harness. So.. THe engine is out and getting fixed , but i need a new wiring harness, and black or red rear panels, front mirrors, an ignition, and thats all I can think of right now... So do you think you guys can help me out mostly with the wiring harness? do they make brand new ones? :D

Ok let me see about the $$$ I have honda stipped down and I want to get it looking nice by the end of summer. Do you guys know where I can get a brand new wiring harness? If not do you guys have a real nice one? I think what happened is the bike caught on fire somehow and melted the wires, rear plastics, seat and rear fender... So I need all of the rear stuff. I have been looking on E-bay and it seems they have lots of stuff.
Thanks for your guys help.

when I always used to check up on ebay, they would always have a few complete spree harnesses at times. It would probably cost u a buttload buying it brand new from a dealer, but u should go ask, since brand new usually equals = best working condition.
projects galore :nerd:

I would suggest buying a harness used off Ebay from someone reputable, ie someone that sells a lot of these types of parts. Fixing a burned harness would be a PIA. Fortunately, to get it running, you need very little in terms of wiring. Lights are another story. Hope you have a multimeter and a 12v voltage indicator light. You'll need them.

I just bought a used harness and My friend Is going to be putting It in for me ( he works on motorcycles as his job ) So in Sep hopefully the motor will get a complete overhaul... It has spark but it wont start. So i gave up.
I was thinking... Where Could I get a different carb for the motor? Like a high performance carb? And as for the Exhuast... What would happen If I cut the little end off and Drilled it out to be bigger? would it add performance? or just make it louder? 8O

for an after market carb u are out of luck for a spree. u can get an after market carb for something else and adapt it for the spree. if u mod that exhaust you can only lose power. no one has found a mod that is proven to work.
