New Guy Here with Questions - Spree/Aero Hybrid

Post by fbergski »

Hello All,

A friend of mine gave me a 84 Honda Aero 50cc, runs good but most of plastic is gone or in bad condition. My brother has a 84 Spree with a bad engine but good plastic.

I've searched the forums to see if anyone has used the Aero engine in the Spree successfully (saw a couple of post but no technical information). From what I can tell I have to fabricate some plates and have them welded to the Spree frame for the engine pivot bolt. I'd also like to use the forks from the Aero on the Spree if possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes the mounts are different. The Spree has the bolt hole inline with the kickstand mounting point while the Aero's bolt hole is up about 1" from the kickstand mounting point. I guess If I took the kickstand off it would bolt in no trouble but then I have no kickstand

Did Honda make more then two scooter models in 1984? I know my scooter has a variator and a kickstart.

Sounds like a good idea given what you have. The Aero 50 -> Spree should be a bolt-up with very little modification needed (if at all). The Spree is lighter, so it should be a little faster overall than the Aero.

If you need help, stop back by. Good luck!
