Too old to have blinker option, is it legal?
My 78 express came from the factory without blinkers mounted on it. Is it "grandfathered" into being legal to ride without them, much like cars that never had seatbelts? I wis it had them for safety reasons but I don't think my small town justifies the effort to add them.
If it was originally manufactired without blinkers you do not need to add them. Here in Nevada the only non original item you are required to have is rear view mirrors.

Blinking
Greetings:
All US roadgoing vehicles were required to have turn signals beginning in 1972. My 1971 CT 70 didn't have them. My friends' 1972s all did. If yours is a 1978 and the local Constabulary wishes to mess with you, you would be ticketed for their absence. Ride safely and don't attract their attention.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

In michigan under the MC section of the vehicle inspection sheet(used for registering out of system/custom vehicles) it states something along the lines of.
Turn signals must work if vehicle is equiped.
If it doenst have em you dont need em on a bike.[/b]

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
