Can I run my 86 Spree w/o a battery? IF so do I need to do anything with the battery wires and is there any benefit/detriment to running a it in that fashion?

I just got the DMV paperwork in order after months of trying to track down the former owner and its gonna be 50 in NY tomorrow! Thanks. :?:

Yes and now, you CAN run it without a battery assuming you got kickstart

BUT your blinkers won't quite work right, bottom line if you're gonna use it on street find yourself a battery..

Batteries are cheap, you will blow light without one.

i have ran without a battery on my elite for a long * time now.

No problems so far. At low RPM's the turning signals dont work so well. I normally just keep revving it till i turn.

Thanks guys.

Same here. I have never had a battery in my Elite, I am planning on one this summer though cause it would be nice having working signals at all times.

GET A BATTERY. For one reason alone. When a * cuts you off like one did to me yesterday, depending on your rpm, your horn won't work. I had to slam on the brakes cuz i was not able to warn other traffic who already don't care about scooters.

yea, but the horn on these things is kinda embarrassing, so that might be a good thing, you can get airhorns at meijers for a few bucks

Like I care about embarrassing when my life is on the line. But yes, i'm looking into upgrading to a much louder horn, which will no doubt require a battery.

Mine will too, it makes this funny buzzing noise, wont beep w/o a battery or high RPM.
