Scooty Puff Jr

Post by ALOW1 »

So my 99 SR was the first Elite that I ever owned. I always said someday I would work on it a little bit. I did some things to it over the years but left the motor mainly stock. The orange one is my 99. Some of the other ones are much nicer than the orange one, but it is the one the gets ridden the most. I have put over 11,000 miles on it in about 2 1/2 years of owning it.

I pulled the motor out of it and stripped it down.

ALOW1,

Man dude, you have a small army of Hondas! You are one of the lucky ones who gets to put 11,000 miles on your scooter! Must be alot of fun! I wished I could clock 11,000 miles on my scooter; I would ride it over driving a car and even riding my big bike anyday. -I don't know why, I have just always liked being on one of my scooters much more than anything else. Its fun to ride, even while I am going to work!

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks Jon.

I like to ride my scooter and have had it all over the place. I bought a trailer and hitch for my car just so I could take them anywhere and ride. Friends and I have had epic rides on them over the years.

So yes I am lacking on progress pictures. Last week my video card went out in my PC. The new one should be here tomorrow. The PC I am using is crappy so I'm not even going to waste my time trying to do pictures on here.

I will get pictures up though soon. I am welding the top shock mount in it tonight. I stretched the mount 4 inches so now I got to move the upper mount.

I have the motor back in it. I got a pic of it mostly together in Photobucket.

The motor is a stock crank with a 72cc Malossi MHR with a Ct intake and a 28mm Keihin carb. It has a Kelli variator and a PG aluminum flywheel on it and a Daytona fan. The clutch has not been changed out yet but I also have a Kelli clutch for it as well.

So what pipe are you going to run? The MHR is a high RPM bore, right?

So I am overdue for an update. My video card went out in this PC so I waited till it was up and going.

I always wanted to extend the rear end out a little bit. I went ahead and cut my mount in half and welded this up, I extended it 4 inches:

I also had to fab up a new upper mount for the shock since the motor got moved back 4 inches, Sorry I do not have any pictures of the top shock mount though you can kind of see it. The end result is this:

I know it is a pretty beat up looking Elite. When the time comes I will tear it back down and clean it up more. I am just trying to get it going so it is dependable for the time being. I have new plastic for the front of it among other things. I am going on a long ride with it in 2 weeks so running good is what is important to me at this moment.

Do you remember what size that pipe is? Like the 28, 29, 32mm? The MHR bore is a high RPM kit, I have never seen one with a sectional J pipe so I can't say but I would think a Long or an expansion chamber pipe would be a better match for maximum performance.

Looks like it will be a sweet ride though. Does the rear wheel touch the ground when the scoot is on the center stand?
