Hello Bear as for the starting fluid ... I am not the most patience person in the world and sometimes think a sledge hammer could solve all my problems with a carb .Hmmmm ? smash it or fix it ???Bear45-70 wrote:If you are using starting fluid to start your engine, it is bad for two reasons. First, it has no lubricating oil in it and washes any oil already there off, a bad thing at best. Second, if you get a crank case full of the stuff, and it doesn't take much with ether, you can have it explode in the crankcase and blow your reeds. 2 strokes and ether are a no-no. Besides that these engines start easy enough when everything is right. Oh and that aftermarket filter will cause hard starting too.

doesnt really matter... and wait... it would be the same either way. stainless usually works alittle better since its slightly stiffer, but whatever works. it wont go all the way through, but it will help clean the crap out. i usually dig through the trash can in my office and find whatever just came off one of my guitars last...66SIX wrote:turtle13 wrote: Thanks one more question on the #11 string acoustic or electric ?

Re: 1986 = 24 Year Old NQ50 Spree
Just got a small sandblaster cabinit woohoo ! I have been looking for one like this for a while as they stopped selling them 2 years ago , but are great for small parts and no mess . Also I got some rubber tiles that look kinda like diamond plate that I might put on the floorboard just testing them out now I was thinking glue them to some plexiglass cut to fit and just bolt it on top of the original one to save it from being damaged and also with the friction from shoes on flat camo paint probably not a good idea , I am also looking into camo wraps for the front plastic ,I went to a printing place that does that stuff and asked for some scrap peices to do some tests on how easy / hard it is to apply and what would it cost they said come back on thrs. and they will have some scrap peices available . a little here a little there .
I am still a little nervous about sanding the front plastic as it is in like new condition . But maybe after a few beers I will feel different about doing it (OK plug er in ) or hopefully get some camo wraps that look good and dont cost more than I paid for the bike .

Re: 1986 = 24 Year Old NQ50 Spree
Greetings:
Nice Epiphone, Six! To clean the carb, it may be wise to start with something even floppier than a steel guitar string. I've used a single bristle from a wire brush, held in a hemostat to get started. This avoids the risk of gouging the soft Aluminum Pilot passageway. If you do use a string, the smaller of the 2 "G" strings on that 12 string is usually of even thinner gauge than the high "E" on a 6-string. Fortunately that tightly-wound G breaks often, so you have a ready supply of material...![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Gee I wonder what I did today ??? Rewired the ignition ... someone cut all the wires on the connectors really short and put porciln screw cap connectors on (I know why ) after everything was rewired it wouldnt start ... It's funny how a fuse looks good but when you do a continuity check ,the cap is messed up and bad .tazland001 wrote:Devils dudes gyros are sweeeeeeeeet.
