Re: C70 passport chopper project
The downdraft carb was used on the older cub models. I have seen a few on ebay, but I plan on doing a lifan swap, so I wont have a setup anywhere close to that one.
The color is metalic flake gunmetal gray. I went by the habitat for humanity store the other day and saw that they had a huge pile of automotive spray paint. I grabbed four cans of this stuff for this project for $1.50 each. The handlebars and the trailing arm have been clearcoated, but the rest of the parts are in different stages for different reasons.
I have not yet found a seat that I like. I have a few ideas, but I have not purchased anything yet.

I ran a Lifan 110 with 4-speed on a crf 50 frame in the MiniMotard scene.....like that set-up and was flawless in performance.

Keep up the good work man, good to see some one else here that has some cub/passport love. Im hoping I can finally get some work done on mine this winter, mine should come out kinda similar, but will have a 125cc lifan, and stretched swing arm and fender. Debating on whether or not to keep the legshield up front though...

Re: C70 passport chopper project
keeping the shield is a bold and unique move. Like the idea of iconic leg shield, with mods to fit the final look of course. Applause.

Re: C70 passport chopper project
got tired of proping the bike up, so i decided to swap in the old motor for now. I still can't pull the trigger on buying the motor, but I will do that after christmas. With that said, the mounts for the pegs is the same on both motors, so I will use this one for mock up and to get all of the wiring done. Once the new motor arrives, It will be a fairly simple swap (probably not!) anyway, Just getting a feel for what it will be like.

Re: C70 passport chopper project
It should, it's the stock seat! I want to cut it down so it just covers the gas tank. Minimize is my goal on the seat.
Re: C70 passport chopper project

Re: C70 passport chopper project
Seat came in. it's a stock solo seat.
Also wanted to get a feel for the foot pegs. Kinda torn between leaving them there and being ok with them, or go to all of the work to extend them and the controls forward. Decisions, decisions.

Re: C70 passport chopper project
I'm liking the build so far... have you considered a cafe-racer style footpeg setup, with the pegs high in the back?Majourlittle wrote:

Here's an amazing film, just a little bonus while on the cafe-racer topic...

Re: C70 passport chopper project
I really wanted to do a cruiser posture to it, but I can't justify putting time and money into developing forward controls. I think that I will be OK with the current setup now that I am not so crammed up against the handle bars.
I do think that the next bike I build will be a cafe bike, and a larger bike at that...
