slow 66 build...

Post by tabs808 »

traded my sym dd50 block with twh 43.2 mini stroker crank for a bone stock virgin af16 block, something hard to find nowadays in hawaii lol
anyways, gonna be building a stock stroke 66cc motor with 9:1 gears
i plan on using a malossi full counter crank.
when i first got my 2000 sa50, it came bone stock with a mikuni vm18 carb. the stock bore was honed out to a 66
the bike also came with a sym arnada front end conversion
i was suprised at how much power it had, it used to lift the front end off the line with stock gears.
here are some pics of the new block i got
all in all, its dirty as *!
step one, cleaning lol

those 9:1 should be great for wheelies

8.4:1 and a yms V8 pipe got my 66cc up to 60.2mph
new best 1/8th mile time 9.647 seconds @67.155 mph 310lbs total weight

Yea was either looking for 8:1 or 8.4:1 but hey i got these 9:1's off of my friend for free so no complaining there haha
Im planning on using a yms r1. Looks like a stock sym arnada one but has a bigger inlet and J and will still look stock

Btw, anyone know what main i should drill it out to? It has a 88 in there now. An i remember the corsa bbk's coming with a 82 if im not mistaken.

So, its either...
1) stock look with stock airbox, carb, and stock intake maifold
2) stock look with stock airbox, mikuni vm18 carb, and stock intake manifold
3) kinda stock look with ddx airbox, 21mm oko painted black, and ct black manifold.

What should it be? Kinda leaning towards number 1. With the way the vm18 carb is mounted, how or what could i use for an adapter to the stock manifold. I had a malossi adapter whay would bolt up to the stock manifold and i could just slide the carb on that but i have misplaced it.

Also, what jettings should i start off with?

I have a stock bore. 1 tawain derestricted exhaust and 1 ncy variator with stock resricted back plate. 8.5 gram rollers. Hits 47mph.
Gonna report back when I get the head shaved. Waiting on 78main, air element, and ncy backplate. Seeing if 50mph is possible.

Have the 15*42 gears I will try in two weeks. Looking for 60mph

hey limp
My stock bore set up with a stock carb, mani, airbox did 62, but it takes awhile to get there haha! I dont see why you should have any problem getting to 50. Most Derestricted SYM DD 50 here can easily get to those speeds.
