Post by kauaianman »

had a spare arnada block and decided to try and put it together.

ported stock arnada intake to just a hair bigger than stock AF16 size.

cleaned up upper half of boost port to match corsa. this is the only thin i don't feel good about. when i did this i was going to run a corsa but later decided malossi MHR so boost port job is not the greatest.

yup still learning and practicing. did about 5 port jobs before this one. 3 72cc malossi and 2 50mm port jobs,.

for all of them i ported the intake bigger (remove material from all sides of intake + open up sides much bigger >thats where i find the most meat to take off) and do boost port all the way down same size as boost port on cylinder.

for this block i wanted to try something different. i seen another af16 block ported by someone else (dont wanna mention names) and they did the same kind of work. It was an af16 block and all he did was clean up the intake (take out all the rough edges) and file the upper portion of the boost port (like i did in the pics above). I thought the theory behind this was to keep more case pressure for more RPM..

i also seen some storker port jobs like that where they start small (bigger than stock obviously) and only till they get to the upper portion of the boost port they really open up and match to the cylinder.

just wanted to try for myself.

the 50mm i ported needs to be rebuilt soon so hopefully i can tear it apart and you can see some of my previous port work.

not claiming to be a master porter or anything, just wanted to let you guys know why i chose this mwthod of porting on this particular build.

none of the oter motors that i did full porting on runs hot, but again for this build i wanted to try something different. I never thought i would have heat problems even with the minor porting i did just beacuse i know of stock block setups that run the same or similar tuning and runs just fine.

still making porgress with this build.

just trying to determine what trans setup to run with this 1. then pressure test and startup. already did cylinder, gears (7.9), mag&stator.

any suggestions? trans? i will use ZX.

The intake walls need to straight back. You need to take a ruler to it and go at it until the walls go straight back. Opening it up helps but making the walls straight help more with turbulance. Also the boost port needs to be the same all the way down. If you want more case pressure set your seals further in
