with 9:1 gears im at 39 grams with a 1500 rear spring. IT revs pretty high. if i go to 42 grams its still good but doesnt take off as well. 40.5 grams i think would be perfect for my setup. though i may try the 2000 center spring. this is with a pg long as well

I think mr wheelman is so light on his weights cause of a taller gear ratio. there is no way i could do 32 grams with the 9:1s

i believe you are correct. taller gear ratio does = less overall weight most of the time

thanks losthope, appreciate it :)

with the polini contessa 47mm bore, it did a solid 63mph on the gps, now with the Ruima 48mm it is torqueyer but top speed slightly lower, my guess due to the larger (and unmatched) boost port

also for anyone who wants to see, small update on Bee in blog:

cheers

Bee has now become my new daily, so :bump:

Cruising her and having lots of fun, speeds currently 45-55mph and retaining ~52mpg avg :coolcruise:

Got some tuning tweaks up my sleeve too, check back for details :thumbwink:

Some new additions to my daily:

Polini Corsa

Now a very balanced combo with the 21 compared to the 24 :woot: , although the 24 OKO had hammer top end and all around kick

Yes sir.

Yet ANOTHER sees "my" (and Bear-dude's)
Theory on "over-carbing."

A.K.A: A 28mm is entirely too big; a 24mm is big, and a 21mm is *just-right*

Kinda sounds like that Goldy-Locks and the 3 Bears story, and 'Locks is in search of the perfect carb.

-Except one of the bears in this freaking story can be pretty grumpy and harsh at times. :bowrofl:

-glad you are still into scooters, Yan...

Later bro... j

Yan how does your bike run with the stock fan? i've seen way too many bikes with koso pink/green fans blow up. the stock fan's fins face back, koso and other aftermarket fans face foward why?

Hey Jon,

I would say as far as carbs go it really depends on your purpose and overall setup. I tried the 21 while running the 48mm Ruima kit and it was not a good match, severe drop in power. But it seems to work much better with the Corsa, opening up lots of low range power left untapped by bigger carbs.

This be gas sipping power that has just netted me 71.4mpg! Pretty dang impressive for a modded scoot

But having tried it personally, gotta say nothing opens up a Corsa better than 28mm and PG Long, that setup just rips when tuned right.

As far as stock fan, its great. I see no reason to change it. The aftermarket fans probably put too much stress on the fins at high speeds if they are facing other direction. Probably in attempt to grab more air. Best mod is just to knock out air cooling cover fins so you have more surface air for the stock fan

wow so LONG time no update. (note the year on last post woah..) after a long dry spell of no scooter modding to speak off, I'm finally back at it. with hopefully better results than each last time I tried.. chalk it up to health issues and a pretty serious motorcycle accident  but we don't need to talk about that.

enough about the sad stuff and onto the new and better!! Bee is now rocking new panels. got tired of the yellow and stickers and had a spare black 01 SR with mild mods that I ended up selling, and swapped the black SR panels for that all black on black look. Loving it lots.

YMS pipe started crapping out, after MANY MANY miles of solid use (5k+ easily), so I FINALLY went ahead and added the Scorpion pipe that's been on the shelf for quite literally almost "years" by this point. HOly moly it fckn rips. And looks awesome to boot, plus gotta love that dirtbike sound. still dialing in, but it certainly wakes up a Corsa

More mods and tuning to come for sure on the way. Here's some pre-pipe and pre-panel swap pics for now. peace :hi:

here's the most recent look, just after a small local scooter meet. I'm in the black shirt that says "Speed Kills" with a flaming skeleton riding a scooter oh yes  haha
