Four-stroke engines do not depend on exhaust backpressure as heavily as two-stroke engines. However, they do require some backpressure. If you do brew your own pipe, I'd recommend that you make it long enough to keep from burning the exhaust valve and if you go twin-pipe, make sure that the combined exit area of the two pipes is close to the inlet area of the pipe. if the outlet is too big, you'll sacrifice torque, which would hurt an engine as low-powered as the AF08E.

finished all wiring. Everything crosses over from the 80 to the spree. Some wiring is plug and play and some requires splicing along with help from the wiring diagrams. I think I'm ready to start working on making the body panels fit.....

Cant wait to see what it looks like when your done.

On the exhaust if you run a dual make sure you run some kind of muffler, also this will give it a bit of back pressure. You want to make sure on 150cc the exhaust is at least 10" long to avoid cold air going back into the exhaust and burning a valve. If you are really set on changing the exhaust look for a 4 stroke Pitbike type or even a Go kart type (long tube with a RLV type screw on exhaust).

Here is a place that sell the kart Exhaust.. http://www.nr-racing.com/exhaust.htm

A straight pipe will degrade performance but will hurt nothing. No pipe will cause issues. Duals would be interesting, but why?

Yeah make a pipe that is either scrambler style, wrapped around the cylinder or motoGP style and come out above the tire. I'd put some kind of muffler on it to prevent a headache. I made two mufflers from an ebay 125 Yamaha silencer. Cost was maybe 15 dollars.

ahh crap, run into a small snag. Now that I'm using the elite 80 hand controls I lost the threaded holes that hold the mirrors. I'm guessing law requires me to have mirrors in wisconsin. Any ideas how to mount my original mirrors?

The only thing I can think of is to drill a hole in the speedo cover plastic and try to bolt them to the plastic (see black circles in the picture). I think they will vibrate pretty bad though.

You could weld 6mm nuts to the bars.... Or do what I did and bought these on ebay, they work pretty good to. Bar End mirrors 3" and only took 6 days from auctions end to get. Order tonight get by Friday. LOL

I switched so that things would work easier with the elite 80 wire harness, throttle cable and rear brake cable. I may have to switch back if the throttle and brake cable from the 80 work with the spree controls.

Yes they will work with twist throttle, they attach on the inside of the bar and it does not interfere with the twisting. Here's a pic.

I thought about doing this with a Spree frame I got laying around. I got a CH80 motor and wiring that I've got no clue as to what to do with since nobody wants it, lol.

I would still just use the spree controls. I dont understand why you changed the whole harness just to do an engine swap.
How many wires even go to the engine anyway? Maybe 4 at most.

Honda keeps most of the wire colors the same between diferent models switching the hand controls over should not be that hard.
