Greetings:

The tires with a decimal like 3.50 are "round" profiles when mounted to the rim for which they're designed. The 1.85 Elite rim is too narrow, and the 3.50 ends up looking less "round" and more like a "Light Bulb". A Met rim at 2.15" not only shapes the profile correctly, but permits running the tire tubeless. it is otherwise bolt-on to an AF16 block.

The 90/90, at 3.54"wide, is actually a tad wider than a 3.50, though as Baka suggested it is a good bit shorter in height. Remember different brands are of different sizes, even if the numbers stamped into the sidewalls are the same.

Why do you want a big tire anyway?

80/90 is fine and is what I would recommend for the spree/dio swap

You can't fit a 3.5 or 90/90 on the front of a spree anyhow.

If it is for a higher top speed....just get the taller gears like Vdub said.

the roller grams weights, just try start 8 grams (48grams)

the honda sa50, I got ran 7grams keli. (42Grams) - 105 Lbs rider.

mix grams 7/8 45grams = (3-7g x 3-8g )

Spree are lighter than SA50. Just have try experiment roller grams and powerband.

8.4 gear should be fine on hill and flat road.

bigger tire on rear are hard to stop. when both lever are used to slow down. :nervous:

corsa need bigger carb and more fuel to cool into crankcase. 28mm carb and pg long.

the spree w/ dio.

8.4 gear , Im sure will wheelie crazy, pg long pipe and corsa bore. much hard to keep front wheel on surface road.

21mm-24mm is good on stock pipe, not pg long pipe.

Or you can get one of these rims....

Image
Image[/quote]

Kinda pricey though... I think I paid $125 for the bare rim

Then the $30 tire... the tire on mine is a 90/90 bridgestone hoop, with a matching 2.75 bridgestone on the front.

I think that T-jamz's point is a good one, the 3.5 might not fit and the speed gained over the 80/90 is negligible compared to gears... you won't want stock gears anyway, the polini will be too rev-happy and you will be at a high risk of over-revving the engine due to the insufficient load for the engine to strain against. Gears will make you and your bore much happier.

Okay guys thanks for all the help!
I just figured a wider tire is always better, but if the 80/90 works well then I'll keep it.
I've got a 21mm oko carb with ct itake right now so I guess that'll work with the stock pipe and I'll wait to see if I need or even want to get a pg long and upgrade the carb.
So it seems my list has changed dramatically now. Now it sits like this...
1. Polini Corsa
2) Polini "for ruckus" vari and ramp
3) Polini clutch
3) Roller weight kit
4) Vented clutch bell
5) New oem belt
6) New 80/90 tire and tube for rear
7) New rear brake shoes

I'm still at a loss for what clutch springs and contra spring to use. I think dubh said 1k? How did you come up with that? And I'm not sure what sliders are either. I know they are shaped weights that go on your vari, do I need to get a kit full of those too?

If there's anything im forgetting let me know

Can the ruckus vari be used without the zx trans?

Uhhhh errr from what I've read wheelman and some others have done this. They swapped in the ruckus vari and just kept the original dio boss. Long as you have that boss with the stock rear pulley everything lines up.

Greetings:

The Ruck and any aftermarket vario can be used with the S rear pulley. The bigger drive face will almost certainly help top speed, at least a little. On stock or 9:1 gears, there's no change in take-off

Only when you gear down below 8.44, the take-offs do seem to suffer. That's why the ZX pulley with a "lower 1st gear effect" is very helpful but not absolutely necessary.

One nice thing about the ZX is that there are at least 4 belt choices - Polini 248-035, Bando 654 and 669 long, and Malossi makes a Kevlar ZX belt. Plus dirt-cheap Chinese 654s and 669s that you can carry as a spare under the saddle, though I do not recommend them for permanent installation. I've broken TWO!

Huh then i might just go with the dio vari made by polini that comes with a ramp and everything. Why screw around if the polini "for ruckus" vari wont net me anything noticable.
So i guess this is the list now...its everchanging
1) Polini Corsa
2) Polini "for dio" vari kit (comes with ramp, rollers, sliders, etc)
3) Polini 2g evo clutch
4) New 3.0 tire and inner tube
5) Roller weight kit
6) New belt
7) 8.44:1 gears

Along with the 21mm oko, K&N filter, and CT intake i already have do you think i could coast at 55mph with that set up comfortably?
Another question, ive read that it can be a pain to mount the shock and some people have had to make new shock mounts. Is there a way to get around this?

Greetings:

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. The "for Ruckus" vario will gain you a wider range of tranny ratios over the "for Dio" item. It should also allow a bit higher top speed, even with the stock rear pulley. That might come in handy if you decide to go with 8.44s. Those are pretty short, even for the rev-happy Corsa bore. I couldn't get much above 60 MPH with my own 8.44s, and to go that fast the engine lives near the stratosphere of its RPM range.

If you want to "coast at 55", may I recommend 7.97s, 7.5s or 7:1s. Lots of opinion on this, and for sure the 8.44s should take off faster. It just depends on where/how you want to ride this little buzz-bomb. Then again, if you plan to keep the Spree front brake, maybe shorter gears are safer...

Ah okay. So you think its still a good buy if i dont have this zx trans thing?
And will the 7.97's get me to coast at 55? I dont want to go too tall on these gears because i dont want my take off to suffer too badly if im riding this to school and back as well as zooming down the city-dividing highway :ndance:

My goal for this whole thing is to coast comfortably at 55mph and whatever will get me there is what im looking for. We do have some hills here so i cant get too tall on gearing. As baka suggested dont get much lower than 8.5:1 so i want to try to stay close to that number. Maybe those 7.97's are the way to go...?

Greetings:

My Corsa peaks repeatedly at 66 MPH @ 10K RPM with the 7.97s. Revs drop to a very sustainable 8500 at 55.

Take-offs alone suffer with very tall gears. Hills are no problem as the variator compensates automatically running closer to the "slow" belt position than it would with shorter ratios.. Except for starting from 0 pointing uphill...
