it really depends on your locality and how they define moped and scooter.
for some places a moped needs to have pedals, other places do not have this requirement

the top speed woes for the Spree is the gearing. You'll need to change this to help you get to higher speeds.

Moped Etymology

Acquired af16 swap bike for my sreedio today.. I kinda feel bad tearing her apart . She runs but not very good.

I see big potential in that there pretty elite! Why not get a older elite motor for the spree and leave the af16 in there? You will be able to do 45-50 easily with simple cheap mods to a elite lx or a se50 motor. Let me tell you why i never take my spree to full speed or why i ride once every few months. Every time i go past 60 on it it feels like im gonna die. You should up grade your front brakes to disk with a larger front wheel because its just plain scary going fast on these. Believe it or not i feel safer doing 55 on one wheel than I do going 60+ on two wheels. Its a great bike but the elite is a much safer bike to go fast with

Well the elite ended up being a roach. The forks are bent and it would cost more to get it 100% than i can pick up a cleaner example. ( I lust after the black plastic with the pink and blue livery.) Anyways that being said I had a perfectly good running af16 and a perfectly slow spree..

I ordered the MLM pipe so I figure ill try it out on the af16.. Ill play with the weights and clutch springs and see if I can get a solid 45 or 50 out of her.. Next on the list will be a front end revamp. Maybe a Graphite9 disc setup or a something like this..http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dio-ZX-Elite-DD ... 48&vxp=mtr. Next will be sourcing eve smile rear plastics as well as the round headlight setup. Then hopefully a 125 kit along with a healthy stretch and a custom Rotiform rear wheel... Its only money I guess. This is what has been slowing my scooter progress. I have most of the hard parts for a ls3/ t56 swap. Still need a few more.

First long ride.. still waiting for the dimensions for a scorpion arrow chamber if anyone has it.. 12:1 gears suck. Hopefully the 9:1s will be more fun.

Borrowed a pg short to see if my junk Chinese pipe was my issue .. I do like the fitment much better. Hopefully I can get my hands on a arrow copy soon ..

Getting there.. bought a "performance" variator (hot gy6 unit from scrappy dog. they are local) today after finding out the pg short gives no more rpm than my cheap china pipe.. before I was limited at 53.9.. now with the variator change .. 3 4gram weights and 3 6 gram weights .. went from a 140 main to a 150 main I finally broke 60... very stoked. Next ill change the rear spring and clutch springs ( still stock) . Maybe 70 is in her future.
Fwiw I weigh 335 lbs lol

I believe "...the Corsa is on..." appears a couple of posts up. However I do NOT see where you've swapped out the 12:1 gears yet, GTI. 62 on stock gears is shocking.
