Are you using the dual reed manifold or a stock style reed with the short manifold? With the dual reed mani your going to loose case pressure due to the extra case volume from the reed cage. With a stock bore you don't want that. Even though you milled the head, that doesn't increase case pressure which is important to blow fresh air and fuel into the cylinder and to blow out the burnt air and fuel. The less pressure the less fresh air and fuel forced in. That equals low power. That with taller gears and a bigger carb it will take even longer for it to get up to 30mph. In therory taller gears should give you more topend but if you don't have the power to turn them plus the weight of the bike and your weight then your just straining the motor and going to waste gas. The setup needs to be efficient in order to go fast. Over gearing a setup is always a big mistake with a lot of people that try to mod these bikes. A stock spree or elite e can do 35mph+ if tuned right with just a few mods that won't kill the bottom end.

bigger rear tire and milled head. but the bore cant be worn out with alot of miles on it if not you will get blow by on the piston. ring end gap has to be within spec and no seize marks on the cylinder or piston.

I got my 2.75X10 tires and new tubes at my local cycle shop. One on the front will correct a bunch of the speedometer error.

Shoulda spent 100 on a derestriced elite motor. Intstant 45 mph. I dont understand why people dump so much money and time into a worthless non variated motor. The elite motor is so simple to put in too.

yeah it will fit. get a 80/90-10 tire which is pretty much the same width as a 3.00x10 but not as tall. it might touch the air box. the irc mb38 jetty is pretty cheap and its a good tire.

They do not hit anything on my '85 Spree in response to his question in red.

The only problem is that the only gave me .5 mph increase.

Baseline run before swap, 30 speedo/27.9 GPS

After install of 2.75X10 rear tire 30 speedo/28.4 GPS

These are two way run average over the same stretch of nearly flat road.

i agree with all of this.

we elite swapped a spree faster than it took me to assemble my stage3 kit. the spreeDio makes my bike look silly, and it's 100% stock. i had to be the guinea pig of the group, and learned the hard way
