The only thing I can think of is to drill a hole in the speedo cover plastic and try to bolt them to the plastic (see black circles in the picture). I think they will vibrate pretty bad though.
Switch back to spree controls.

Why did you swicth controls in the first place?

I'm pretty sure the elite throttle rotates a lot more than the spree throttle. I think if I used the spree throttle I wouldn't be able to max out the carb.

I have body work to do yet but I believe I have it in a ridable reliable state. Today I took it out for a few miles. It's the first time I've seen the speedo hit 35mph (and there was still throttle left) :bowrofl: . Its no Dio but anything is better than the 50cc turd that the spree comes with.

The right side has a bunch of red tape on it, that is how the stock spree came when I bought it, there is a big hole/missing plastic behind the tape.

I'm open to suggestions or comments (good or bad). I know the side plastic is not pretty.

Anyone thinking of doing this:

As you can see a lot of the side panel plastic has to be cut. I also had to remove the black padding on the inside of the side panels. Eventually I want to make an abs "bulge" and put it over the exhaust and carb/airbox area so the plastic looks more like the spree stock plastic. Eventually I am going to replace that monster muffler but that will come later.

The rear mud flap is complete cut off up to the area that holds the license plate. I'm using the stock elite 80 rear tire, if I didn't cut it down the tire rubbed over bumps.

No plastic was modified in the front or the foot board.

You should be able to get away with using the spree wire harness, someday I may switch back to the spree harness. The elite harness worked but I had to add wire to a lot of the connections.

There is some emissions canister that came with mine, I just found an area under the frame (above the engine) to mount it to.

As I said above I think you need to use the elite throttle, I think the elite throttle rotates more that than the spree throttle. I have not completely verified this.

You can remove the 2 stroke oil bottle!! The Elite 80 did not come with a kick start so I'm thinking of either storing a spare battery in the oil bottle spot or putting jumper cables in that location.

Why not do what wheelman did and make the oil tank into a fuel tank, That 80 cc motor is gonna suck gas compared to the 50 cc motor.

It's a plate for the Spree, they don't know about the 80 cc motor.

You are dealling with a government, you don't really expect logic from them do you? Besides a lot of place lump the under 50 cc scooters in with the mopeds.

I took it as zuphilius was razzing toad since he has a problem with mopeds being called scooters. That's all, no big deal.

i googled "moped" and searched images... here's a small sample of what i found
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

so, you previously stated that it has to have pedals to be a moped right? so what about pic4? i call that a motorized bicycle...but by your definition its a moped.
