Puch's

Post by ALOW1 »

I have a few Puch's as I am also into mopeds. I am building a couple of Maxi's right now. As my silver one comes together I will post some progress pictures. Right now here are how they basically look right now:

Here it is with dropped bars on it. The seat is chopped on it and it has a EBR frame stabilizer on it and a Robot swingarm:

Nice looking mopeds, I've always heard you could do a lot with those.

Thanks.

The ped had an E50 engine in it when I got it. The E50 is Puch's single speed engine. I pulled it and went with a ZA50 which is their 2 speed engine. I went with a 60cc Athena kit for starters, I will upgrade later to a Polini 64cc.

Image

I rebuilt the tranny in the ZA50 replacing the shift pucks with ones from Motion Left Mopeds. I also had Dylan at MLM build me a pipe to match the 64cc Polini. The power band for the pipe is designed to hit at 6,500 rpm, which is about 30mph. 30mph is right about where the tranny should shift into second.

I will also be running a Dellorto 19mm PHBG and a 19mm intake. The points have been removed and upgraded from 6v to 12v with a CDI. More pics will come as I get it together more.

Dude, that's a cherry Newport! Working on one for a friend, I'll have to show him these pics.

The Maxi N is really clean too!

You've seen my '78 Pinto, my current money pits are the '71 FailCiao and a '78 Maxi Sport Mk. II, the latter being a total wreck.

I read the thread on your Magnum awhile back on MA. Thats cool. A Magnum is next on my list of what I'm going to buy. I have never rode one yet but I think I would be more comfortable on a Magnum then a Maxi because I'm a rather large guy.

Both nice peds. That Pinto is really nice, but I like the look of your Maxi more. I want that seat that you have on the Pinto. I am assuming it is a Pinto and not a Swinger because it has a chrome tank.

Anyways that is the seat that I want on my Maxi.

The pipe is a Motomatic destroyer pipe hits pretty late maybe about 7000 rpms would be my guess.
Best pipe out there I think for a Gilardoni.
