ahh you should be good then. the kart guys use the castor 927 and run their motors to around 15k-17k and egt temps of 1100deg. I use that oil in my race scoot.

Looks like the exhaust gasket didnt hold up. Also pulled apart the cylinder and checked for scratches. It looked OK and I added a metal base gasket to help lower the compression from 145psi.

Took a couple of pics:

Whats up with that spot on the piston?

If your going to add a gasket, add a head gasket.by adding a base gasket your raising the cylinder and making the port durations longer so now your moving the power band higher in the rpm range.your pipe makes its power in the 9400 to 10300 range so stick with the stock paper base gasket and add another head gasket.the carbon spot is normal.that might have formed before you switched to the castor927.if you polish the piston top, less chance of carbon sticking.that plug color is lean and its due to that exhaust leak you had.that gray/bluing going on on the ground strap indicates a very lean condition and almost detenation starting.

I did notice that the guy who put together the motor for me used one metal base gasket and not the paper one. I have 1 paper base gasket and an additional 2 metal base gaskets that came with the kit. Ill use the paper one instead which is thicker than the metal ones.

Also the kit only came with 1 metal head gasket and the o-ringed head. Those 2 were already on when had 145psi. Any suggestions?

no stick with the thin metal base gasket. he used that one because it keeps the port duration where it need for the pipe your using.if you use the thicker paper base gasket, your going to raise the cylinder up higher than it was and put it out of range of where the pipe makes power.get another head gasket so you will have 2 head gaskets along with that oring in the head.

Here's a little update. The Malossi Exhaust wasnt the right match for the Race Cylinder Kit so, had to ditch it for now and picked up a used Yasuni Pipe. It was in bad shape, so removed all the rust and painted it with high temp BBQ paint. Hopefully my engine will be happier now...

Next, decided to switch up the whole front end of the bike. Now its lower and nicer looking. I had troubles registering my old frame, so picked this one up that was already titled and painted black. There is a big ride I'm getting ready for the 27th of this month so between building mine and helping with my friend's, time will be scarce.

Greetings:

Squish tells part of the story. Measure compression too.

Can you not get 93 Octane in the PRC? What do the Maybach drivers fill wit?

No 93 octane over here in my neck of the woods...only 91

Last reading was @ 145psi, but that was with a different base gasket. I'll measure again. Where should I look to be @ wit 91 octane?

Another head gasket in there it would put my squish @ around 1.2mm
