I've noticed that when you try to save on gas and wear and tear on the road by riding a scooter the state and the police state want to penalize you. My license fees for my 1983 scooter are higher than my 1990 Escort. Then of course when the cops nail you, they want to wring your wallet dry, like they are getting a cut of the fines. Image Or maybe it is just their way of saying they don't want you to save money.

Hey Mike my day also did not go too well .
Decided to sell my Elite 80 to get some room .
Posted on cragslist.
Got a bunch of calls ...1st. guy to see it buys it . Next morning he's knocking on my door .He has a problem with
the bike , I take a look ...the muffler mount broke then the vibration broke the pipe going to the muffler .
Hey sh3t happens . I felt bad so I said ,I can give you another bike while I fix the Elite ...Or return the cash .
He goes for the refund but says he would still like the bike ... OK
Now I spend the next 2 days working on the Elite welded the muffler & mount/ oil change re-did the plastic it was a little loose on the sides ...re-set the carb .Stuck a trunk on the back .
Call the buyer back and say the bikes ready ... I still felt bad about him having problems .
OK I give him the ultimate deal I say he can take the bike for 2 days and try it out and on thrs. I would either take it back or sell it on cragslist on friday .
And said if he wants it he can pay me after the 2 day test ride ( remember I had already given his cash back ) I keep telling him just be carefull the Vegas drivers are really bad .
Well the next night I get a call aaaaahh I got bad news I,m in the hospital ,someone cut me off .

So today I spent 4 hours waiting at a tow companys lot waiting to see the bike .
Let me tell you about Vegas tow yards ...a bike a car a truck a skateboard anything that gets towed in your looking at $275. after 5:00 add $75.00 and just keeps going up & up if they have to give your car a boost while it's in the yard (because they leave the lights on ) add $50.00 It just goes up & up then it costs more than the car / bike is worth then they sell it at auction and keep all the cash .
My plan is to try to get a insurance settlement ASAP from Hertz as it was a rental car with people from Russia driving . Can it get any better ?
So I guess I will be getting up at 6am to start the wheels rolling and calling Hertz Claims and see if they want to save some cash and get the bike out of the tow yard .

Greetings:

Your conduct proves you're a nice guy. No good deed goes unpunished.
I once sold a 1970 Toyota Mark II to the father of the prettiest girl in school. A week later, he calls and says the clutch went out with her driving. My response? SOLD AS IS!

I never had a chance with her anyway...

Wow tough breaks guys. I'll try to learn from your mistakes Mike. We don't need insurance here but to get a scooter on the road legally its like 165.00 gonna have to suck it up and do it for both of mine before i get tempted to try that.

I know exactly what yr saying Bear, you would think they'd give you a break since its better for the environment.

666, i feel for ya buddy! A lesson that hard and you'll probably only need to learn it once at least. I got a car for 1,500 and the engine died the next week. thats what got me into scooters.

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011.....Tennessee was under the Texas sun today, soaring temps reaching 104 in my area. Didn't stop me from making the annual ride to Akersville cemetery for the purpose of visiting the grave of my uncle Carl. Round trip totaled 148 miles. The ride of choice was the Aero. Along the way, Ruby(aero) had 2 moments of what I will call "passing a kidney stone"....fuel starvation as some foreign object passed through the main jet. Both occurances dropped Ruby to her knees, but could not keep her down....Stopped for a break after 40 miles and within a minute of returning to the ride, Ruby slows to a crawl with throttle response absent...still running, I swing into a church lot looking for shade. Just as I get to the shade-tree, throttle picks up and the first episode is over,....like the trash had either passed or fallen away from the jet. Continued on, prayerfully, and all went fine until the return trip. The second kidney stone came and went very quickly without having to pull off....just a slight starve and never so much as a cough. The weather is breaking today, what with a tropical storm coming across Lousiana, and the high temp for Mon-Tue is in the 60's....perfect for a carb-ectomy........ :hi:
