Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Hey Mike Surprise surprise ! This is a follow up to my elite that got scratched story.
The bike is still in the tow compound cost to get it out is around $1,900.00 probably will be around 2 grand by the end of the weekend .
My plan is to wait another month and go to the auction and either buy it back or if someone pays a stupid price .
Ask them if they want to buy a mirror 2 keys for the bike 2 keys for the trunk and a title for the bike for $100.00
what would you do ? ( I Know you would have got the bike out the first day when the bill was under $300.00 )

I'm not really sure how I would have played this one 66SIX...but ditto what Mystic said...your scheme to recover further compensation for keys and title is fool-proof...I'm humbled by the sharpness of your savvy in the american enterprise system...I'd like to see you get the Elite back for dirt-cheap and do an Earl Scheib flip....rock-on

.....paid fines today....total was $205.50....that's with reduction of fees due to compliance with registration process....if I had ignored the registration, it would have been another $84.00.......Mystic wrote:I like your little lunch box I am curious how much did the fines add up to on your ticket or do you know yet?

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Time arrived to pull the carb and douche it good...my bad when I opened the airbox to find filter "remains" laying on the bottom....should have checked that first thing before ever riding it, instead, I clock 800 miles running slightly lean.and risky a perforated diddly-whumppit...note the coating of powdered filter foam lining the carb throat......

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Found the main jet=105...pilot=40...since this scoot only had 891 miles when I got it, and it was running pretty good, the condition inside was mostly clean before the chem-dip....fired up and idled with initial settings...throttle felt much fatter and quicker, even without the filter....I'll get one on it before any real test ride...can't wait....rear tire, not happy, go boom any minute....just got paypal money for more new tires, thanx mark.nichols18

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Ha - I like that pic! I had a scooter with no filter in the airbox, but would not start at all. A crumbled filter had lodged the reeds open and the previous owner had removed the filter because 'it was bad'. Easy fix, and was sorry the seller had not gone one step further (for his sake).motormike wrote:note the coating of powdered filter foam lining the carb throat......
Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
.....airbox cleaned, foam filter replaced, everything back together except the side panels....that tire has to go, and tuning always easier with no panels....only a short trip around the hood today, enough to know there is an improvement...tomorrow will take it to WOT for the real test.......

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
....todays' round of errands found me on the parkway....the best place for a legal test as speed limit is 55....Aero "Ruby" is doing her thing just fine now....even with a suspect speedo, showing 50mph, and climbing to that with not one whimper...the symptoms of lean burn are no longer present....throttle rippin' kwik off the line, too heavy for carryin' the front wheel though..... .....rider overload.....

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Motormike's photo showing the air filter problem is worth re-posting
-- Air Filter Bits --
-- Air Filter Bits --
- Completely cover air feed for the idle circuit.
- Almost plugged air feed for the emulsion tube
- Bits of air filter can get inside smaller passages within causing further issues
Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
I mentioned a suspect speedometer previously. I tried a comparison with another bike that is deemed accurate. Control bike doing 45 mph compared to 38 mph shown by my Aero. 7 mph slow is a bunch. Makes me wonder actual speed when my speedo is showing 50 mph. Assume it would be 57 mph, give or take. I'll find somebody with a gps to do it right next time.

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Greetings:
No bike speedometer is "accurate". The error percentage is as high as 12% on Japanese 600cc sportbikes. Harley-Davidsons come closest with 2-4% optimistic. Back issues of Motorcycle Consumer News.
Only Flash 3.26 with a 3.50 front Michelin is pessimistic, about 3% low due to the larger circumference of the tire.
