My 1977 Express Project :)

Post by Spree<3 »

So, I picked this up for Dirt cheep ($25.00) and th PO knew next to nothing about it. It was his Father's scooter on the farm. Last registered in 1979 :surprise:

Got it home and, of course, it wouldn't start... but it did turn over, so that was a good sign

Opened it up and about a cup of water came out. but almost no rust inside :)

Then the Crab... it was not good. But I soaked it, cleaned it, prayed a bit... and now it runs

Now it's time to begin the resto :thumbwink:

So I took it apart and am getting ready to scrub it clean and paint the frame... been working on getting the rust off the wheels a bit...

I found it by placing a post on SalemFreecycle.com ... said I wanted a project scooter - condition not important... :blah: :blah:

So this guy called me and said he had something, but he wanted some $$ for it. When he said $25.00 (he also sent a pic of it) I asked, "can I come get it right now? :D "

It even had the Claymer Manual with it... last entry, May 79'... changed oil in case.

Update:

Got it stripped and sanded and found some nice Rootbeer Brown paint. It's a deep brown with just a hint of gold flake in it... looks real good in Sunlight

Also got to work on the wheels...

I'm in need of a carb. This thing will run as is, but the choke is stuck and it's very difficult toget it started.

So, 1977 Honda Express..NC50 carb... or any carb that will work.

Ebay. mopedarmy.com is your best bet. That carb is worth $100 used though. Check Treats or dratv for the headlight bulb.
