Konda Super Spree: Project DIO-REE 1

Post by Tate »

So at long last I have obtained the base for my first REAL scooter build. I have done some decent moped builds and I have kitted/tuned plenty of scooters but this is my first frame-up scooter build.

Long story short I am going with a naked Honda Spree frame and the engine/wheels/brakes/fork off of a Kymco ZX50 Super Fever.

I am going to post some "before" pictures and document my progress here.

So here are the two starting points.

Pretty ratty right?

Pretty much every piece of plastic is broken on her and the seat is wrecked but she starts right up and runs great and she is fast.

When you get them next to each other you really get to see how much of a size difference there really is.

That front end is going to make a world of difference in off roading and stopping and ride quality. Its going to add a lot of weight but I just refuse to trust those tiny Spree brakes to stop me at speeds above 50mph.

Thats as far as i am now. Tear down begins tonight. Pretty sure I am going to have my naked Spree frame and ZX forks powder coated but I am not sure just yet what color scheme I want to go with.

Wow, your spree looks EXACTLY like mine when I brought it home... Same missing panels, same dirty white, same ripped seat...

Looks like you got quite a project ahead of you.

Yeah there might have to be a frame brace/crossbar added in there.

I have been looking around to see if anyone has ever but an elite/ZX engine on a Honda Express NA50 frame. Haven't found any info. I have plenty of spare Express frames so i am going to take a look at the feasibility of such an endeavor.

Also who has the best cheapo (<150) out there?

Wow that Express SR with the scooter engine is FIERCE looking and I bet it hauls the * as well.

Thing is though an Express SR can be stupid fast on its own with Hobbit kits and pipes but still thats awesome.

I have been making progress but I am waiting to get my frame powder coated before I can move forward.

Pretty much just stock piling parts and doing other projs in the mean time.

And I meant to say, "Who has the best cheapo KIT out there, as in under $150."
