Third One is a Charm - 1987 Spree Rebuild (new pics)

Post by two4one »

Less than a year ago I never had any thoughts of a scooter, moped...whatever. Since then I've rebuilt two Spree's, revived a Tomos Targa LX, a Yamaha Champ and now I'm onto my third Spree. I've had this one sitting in my shop for a while now awaiting attention. I went full throttle into the paint this past Tuesday and Thursday. I was inspired at a recent Corvette show where I saw a blue Grand Sport Vette. Beautiful car!

Plans Include:

BBK - on order
Gear upgrade - on order
Custom pipe by Noiseguy
I'm thinking Bridgestone Hoops - 2.75x10 for even more top end
Not sure about the seat yet

One question I could use some feedback on is the carb. Will the stocker re-jetted do alright or am I chasing a ghost? I'd rather not waste time trying to tune something that will never meet my needs.

Anyway, the project thus far:

I love the brushed aluminum look so I'm going with it on the outer part of the wheels.

So stay tuned as I continue to revive this mess. Taking a few new steps on this one with the BBK and all. Should be fun!

Making progress on this one. Got the big bore kit installed and running yesterday. Waiting on the pipe from Noiseguy. Other than that I need to finish up the wiring, do some tuning, install the plastic, polish the controls and decide what other details I'm going to add. Overall it's coming together nicely. The great part is this one is already sold before it's done! Took a deposit on it last week. Not sure I'll be glad to see it go...

Did you get one of those aftermarket bystarters? How do you like it?
Black 85 Spree-SOLD

Red 87 Spree... Ended up buying the same one mentioned below.

I started riding my uncle's 87 Spree at the drag strip when I was 8...

It's easier to stop caring three years ago than it is to fix it in present time.

This one doesn't use a bystarter. I have a big bore kit on it. Haven't updated this thread in a while sorry!
