Easiest AF16 swap

I see now why the 87 se50 is still popular....it is by far the easiest to swap an af16 into. Basically everything hooks up except the harness and the engine mount bolt is a little bit smaller :D I got a black and purple 87 se50 complete non running that I thought I would swap all the good parts onto the other 87 se50 I got so I could sell it. Well one thing led to another and I had this af16 I needed to rebuild so I got that done this morning and figured I would at least try it. The motor was noisy with throttle so I changed to new bearings and seals now it runs like a champ, 40 by the speedo WITH restricted pipe. Took the se50 motor which ran really well up to 40 mph and stuck it on the red se50 and will take that motor that still needs some work but runs up to 30 with new rings and put it on the Spree :D gotta figure out what I am gonna do about the mounting bolt since it is an af16 mount and I dont think the af16 bolt will fit through the bushings on the se50 motor. So much to do hahhaha dont want to cut another motor mount, will post some pics later. I either gotta put a pod filter on the stock carb or find a junk set of 87 panels that i can cut to fit with the af16 airbox

I've been thinking about a winter project and this sounds pretty sweet. Now to find a AF16 I can get for somewhat cheap. I do like the SE50's lines better than the SA50.

I think there are a few people on here who are trying to sell some. I have a set of cases if you wanna do a total rebuild

Swapped the rear rim this morning I noticed a while back the sa50 rim I had on the spree swap wobbled so i had my sister follow me yesterday and it still wobbled so I switched to the se50 rear rim. sucks that it is bent :( also drilled out the restriction in the header pipe and i remembered that the clip on the throttle needle was on the top notch, since i havent actually had a sa50p before i didnt know whether the clip was supposed to be on the top for the sa50p S and in the middle for the sa50 SR so i figured with the extra air and the larger exhaust diameter that it would be in my best interest to put the clip in the middle. gotta check the manual for sure :D so far so good. gotta check and make sure i put the 78 main in, I am sure I did but its best to err on the side of caution than overheat the almost pristine stock bore

Leave the '87 engine mount alone.

Just replace the AF16 case bushings with a set of AF05 case bushings. Use the AF05 engine bolt. Done.

Yeeeeeuh buddy the 87 elite s is my all time favorite bike. Easy swap in a light bike with good leg room. Im sad to have sold mine but my spree came along and had room for only 1 bike and the spree had a title. Good find man you should see if baka still has an undercowl available. Looking good keep up the good work

Greetings:

An enviable scooter nicely done. Good stickers too, but Honda-san may not approve of the graphics... Then again, he doesn't own it.
