Greetings:

71.2, actually. That was the stock crank and the OKO 26 with the OKO airbox (I think...) and a PG Short pipe. OK downwind, a little... :)

Greetings:

Burp-free ride to work this morning with the 1.5x Blue Polini spring and variator load dropped to 30.5 grams. This setup revs up smartly to 9500 or so, but drops down quickly when the throttle opening is reduces and it maintains good speed ~45 MPH spinning in the mid-7K range. I kind of like that. Power felt strong, but not quite up to Flash 5 Corsa levels. I may have to drop another couple of grams, but still not positive it isn't the pipe holding back power. I finally reached Steve VT who has a load of pipes coming.

I'm touched by your concern. Just getting a Scorpion in Texas is harder than it sounds, even if I had the money..

On the Malossi Crank

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

People have asked me about the Malossi "stuffer" crank that went on when the MHR did. Honestly I had not noticed a difference until lately. Spending more of my time at highway speeds might have sparked the observation: This thing is a LOT less Buzzy than I remember. Seriously, with the Corsa/Stock crank there used to be an annoying tingle in the bars, saddle and floorboard that seems to be significantly decreased, if not gone altogether. It sort of makes sense that Malossi designed the top end and crank as a matched set, but until I paid attention, I didn't realize how much smoother it runs north of 8500.

Greetings:

Sad story, or maybe not.
Thinking the 24 was holding power back a little, I ordered trusty 26mm OKO. Package arrived, invoice correct but...
4OKO28for26[1].jpg
4OKO28for26[1].jpg (119.88 KiB) Viewed 6289 times
the Carb's a wee bit bigger than planned.

I thought about sending it back but decided now I finally get to follow the advice of countless Hawai'ian brothers who proclaim "28 OKO and PG Long - FTW".

I'd been running a suspiciously big 52 Pilot in the 24. Seemed fine, no 4 stroking and kept the temps down running ~40 mph. I did worry I might have an air leak to need that big in a 24, but I've checked and rechecked with no sign. Running a 125 main in the 24 with decent top end.

So, what do I start with in the 28? I put in a 58/150 but haven't installed the carb yet. If anyone has a suggestion or if this seems WAAY wrong, please advise.

Gretings:

Mounted up the 28 after work. Sometimes the Jetting Gods smile upon unworthy Wheelman. I was expecting the worst, but my guesses were ballpark-correct for a change. Warm today; low 80s so it was just a trifle rich, still amazingly linear and burp-free bottom to top with just a little more grousing than before on part-throttle cruising. Morning forecasts in the 40s later this week, so I'll leave it for now: 55/150. Best idle speed at 1-1/8 out. Idle temp 232.

The thing that surprised me was how much harder it pulled in the midrange. WOT gave 9400 on the variator's 30.5 gram load, Polini 1500 spring is fresh. Top temps with 24 was 380, 311 with the 28. Surely that's jetting. No top speed yet, but I'm liking the Simioni better. It went 60 with the 24, feels like 65 now.

Greetings:

Except for being a LOT more cold-blooded in the morning, the 28 is doing fine. At similar ambient temperatures, I use to be able just to ride away in the mornings with the 24. The 28 gives 2-3 episodes of fuel starvation [Bleeeuuuuaaah - nearly stall - fiddle-fiddle with the throttle to bring the revs back up...] before settling down. After that's over, it's fine. I did squeeze out 60MPH on a short run against a 5 to 7- Knot headwind yesterday, confirming a little better on top than the 24. Top temp was ~365. However it would appear that something is still holding this MHR/Stuffer Crank 72cc setup back. It's not the gears, Baka-san; I stuck with 7.6es.
