1984 Gen 1 Aero Build

Post by Aeropower04 »

Hello fellow forums members. I'm relatively new to the forums, but I have found this forum to be essential to the success that I have had so far in my endeavors to build out my scoots! I would like to give back by showing my gen 1 aero 50 build so far. I feel that the Gen 1 Aero has faced neglect that it is undeserving of. The common idea that there are little to no upgrades is a bit of a farce. There are options, you just have to be a bit creative and get your hands dirty! I am by no means an expert, try any of these at your own risk. I also do not have all of the answers, feel free to chime in and present your own opinions and ideas.

PS, 5 reasons why I think the Gen 1 aero is better than 85-87
1- Speedo goes to 50mph
2- Front rack stock from factory
3- stroke is 2mm longer than the 85-87, meaning MOAR POWER!
4- Fits 4 bolt manifolds stock
5- Best stock cdi on honda two stroke scoots

Parts list
I used a Malossi Gyro cylinder for the Japanese TG50 spec engine. Based on this Treatland review, it is the same stroke as the Gen 1 Aero:
https://www.treatland.tv/malossi-70cc-4 ... 1-6170.htm

"ports look like af01 ports. which is almost identical to jdm gyro 2t. both are vertical cylinders. USDM gyros are horizontal. af01/ lead cylinders will work on 83-84 nb50/ ab07 engine with port modifications. cylinder heights are the same. so pull out those 1st generation Aero's and get to rippin!!! can I have one now? please....."

I also paired it with the high compression cylinder head meant for the kit:
https://www.treatland.tv/malossi-47mm-h ... 8-7716.htm

S23 carb adapter from scooter swap shop
https://scooterswapshop.com/collections ... rb-adapter

I modified the stock throttle cable to keep oil injection, and now it works with a polini cp 21:
https://www.treatland.tv/polini-CP-21mm ... 1.2101.htm

That is basically all I've done to the bike in terms of performance parts other than some cheap 12g 16x13 Gixal sliders from amazon (don't recommend for long term use) which wear quick. I have 9g dr. pully sliders coming and will be paring them with a metropolitan rear wheel and 90/90 tire.

I had someone who owned a honda dealership give me a Gyro X once and I couldn't believe after I got it running, how much power it had in stock format!!! That thing was wicked!!! Wonder if you could find some gears for it to make use of all that power, to ice the cake, you would just need a badddaasss exhaust pipe - then it would be too squirrely to ride it wot!!!

I believe the stock gearing in the Gen 1 aero is like 8:1, so pretty perfect for the BBK I installed. I rode it today and was able to hold a consistent 45mph with those upgrades and stock 2.5x10 tires. If your gyro is a USDM I believe it is one wheel drive if I am not mistaken. The JDM ones had a differential I believe. You could always find larger rear tires to in effect up the gearing. That's next on the list for me.

The Gyro X I had was a JDM brought over here by someone in the military but they for some reason, didn't get it registered in the states. I had seen BBK's on WeBike.com for it but as I could not get a title for it therefore I sold it. WeBike is where I had seen those custom pipes and some examples of modified and tricked out JDM Gyro's. As to your 1st Gen. Aero, I was not aware of the tall gears in that one. Bully for you jack! I know your excitement! Have fun!

thats my review on treatland. my blue 84 tact/aero is still running strong with my pinasco af01 bbk installed. i love the stock ab07 gearing. i modified an af18 variator boss to 20mm id and now run a over-range variator. my fully modified ab07 will do 63-65 on flat ground with a 200lbs rider.
i just discovered that a pgo star1 cylinder is a direct bolt on to the ab07, and the pgo star1 has a good list of big bore kits from companies like polini, maossi, and others. i have always thought the ab07 first gen aero was better than te af05e second gen aero.
