OKAY hondaspree, i got this thing timed last night and got it started up.

check this out, im totally stumped. each time the bike is turned on the drive changes from forward to reverse. literally the direction of power changes. in this video i captured it wanting to take off in reverse. it then died and when restarted would accelerate forward. like what??

It ignited before the piston got back up to tdc and sent it in reverse. Timing is not right.
Use your kick starter and see what happens.

wonderful.

i would have rather it have been gear related.

its kick start only. i dont get how it would switch each time though. i hate timing its the most confusing thing.

It would eventually run correct tho or always in reverse?

it would be in reverse the entire time untill the bike was shut off. once restart it would run forward untill shut off. and continue to switch.

Definitely timing is retarded too far, more than likely the pick up is in the wrong spot. Not a big deal as you're not too far off if it'll run. Did it feel weak on power when it was going forward?
Also I meant could you shut off the bike and restart it and it goes forward. Since it was a yes, it's definitely timing related. The spark was to early.

i texted my buddy who helped me time it. he said he had my bike firing after tdc. and my motor requires 3.2mm before tdc. so if thats what he did. that would explain this, i think.

Even if it was too advanced it would fire correct just burn up your piston. I thought mina horizontals was 2 degrees btdc. I've only heard of this situation happening because the combustion happened too early. The engine doesn't know it's going backwards so it's dictated by the motion of the piston, in order for it to go in reverse the event must have happened before it hits tdc and reverses the direction. You kicking it in the correct rotation would set the event going in a clockwise direction.

Did you use a degree wheel and dial indicater with the head off?

I used this
https://www.treatland.tv/buzzetti-micro ... meter.them

To find tdc and advance the ignition. It's possible we did it wrong.

My cylinder calls for 3.2 mm before tdc

The link is dead. If your cylinder calls for 3.2mm btdc definitely go with it. A degree wheel will do you right.

The MVT or any inner rotor use a non grounded CDI / to run. The Zuma uses a Ground to run, they run it in such a fashion that it is difficult to change.

For the relay to do what you need. It switch on B+. I took 12v dc, from rear tail light circuit, its key on 12v-dc power, To the Relay
That goes to one side of the R coil. The other side of R coil, the switched side needs switched battery negative -. The OEM, Blk/Wht. From the CDI, harness side.

So now you have control of the relay coil, with the key on and the kill switch on (kill is reversed, but operates).
Take one of the normally closed contacts, it goes to ground. The other side of that contact will be the MVT, Wht/Blk, Kill wire.

In operation, key on , kill on. R Coil will pull in & open the ground circuit to MVT Wht/Blk Basicly you are controlling the relay coil with the switched B- of the oem wiring.

If the battery fails.... You remove the cube relay from its base, or add a toggle switch to break the one contact's ground. You have ignition.

I used a standard cube relay, DP DT 12v relay and relay base. Used the NC, dry contacts. Standard industry, dc control componets.
Graingers, MSC, or an electronic's supply. Look for low R coil amperage one, for the MVT make minuscule power at Idle.
I also went to dual, LED headlights. To get better charging volts. Did the trick.

SOMEONE WHOS SMARTER THEN ME HELP
this is what dude sent me on another forum regarding the MVT igntion. im having the hardest time visualizing what hes talking about. i need a picture im a visual learner. Key doesnt shut the bike off..
